Newly released videos show from different angles and up close how the Boeing 767-300 cargo plane ended up beyond the runway at Miami International Airport (MIA) and landed among vehicles outside the landing area.
The images provide a much closer perspective of the consequences of the accident that occurred around 2:00 p.m., when flight 7598 of 21 Air, operating for Amazon Prime Air, overran the runway after landing from San Juan, Puerto Rico.
One of the videos, published by the account @RaffaMiami, shows the enormous plane with the distinctive white and blue livery of Prime Air parked in an area with numerous vehicles. The recording allows viewers to see the proximity between several cars and the fuselage of the aircraft.
Another report, shared by the account Branch Floridian (@JackLinFLL), provides a more detailed view of the damage suffered by the Boeing. The video shows a severely affected part of a wing and several emergency vehicles operating around the aircraft.
"Pray for everyone. Severe thunderstorms with lightning are approaching," wrote the user alongside the images, referring to the weather conditions moving toward the area.
A third video, shared by @airplusnews, shows the tilted fuselage from another angle, along with several cars underneath and around one of the wings.
Overall, the new records allow us to grasp the extent of the accident: the Boeing ended up in an area occupied by vehicles and suffered significant damage from the impact and the fire.
Wide emergency deployment
The Miami-Dade Fire Department mobilized around 60 units to respond to the emergency and found the aircraft in flames upon arriving at the scene, reported on X the Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue Department.
The accident also forced the suspension of operations at Miami International Airport, affecting runways and taxiways while emergency teams worked in the area.
Initial reports indicated that there were injured individuals, although the exact number of affected persons and the severity of their injuries had not been specified initially.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that flight 7598 of 21 Air overshot the runway after landing around 2:00 p.m. The aircraft, a Boeing 767-300 freighter, had departed from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan.
The agency announced that it will investigate the accident.
