The Cuban duo Dany Ome and Kevincito El 13 has just released "Missing You More," their collaboration with Wisin, the legendary Puerto Rican reggaeton artist, in a premiere that fans have been eagerly anticipating for weeks.
The official video was released this Wednesday on the duo's YouTube channel and within a few hours surpassed 447,000 views, with over 15,000 likes, while Dany Ome's Instagram post gathered nearly 30,400 reactions and over a thousand comments.
The song was one of the most promising releases from the Cuban cast this year. The announcement of the "historic collaboration" between Wisin and the duo had circulated since mid-August, when a preview of the song was shared, and the anticipation has only grown since then.
The collaboration did not come out of nowhere. At the end of July, Wisin had publicly praised the Cuban duo, stating that "they are entering a space where they have no competition" and that the group had caught his attention so much that he began to research them.
The audience's reaction was immediate and overwhelming to this premiere. Dany Ome celebrated in the YouTube comments: "We’re trending."
Among the fans, Cuban pride took center stage. "Who else feels proud to be Cuban?" asked a user who received 186 positive responses. Another comment that resonated strongly said: "The generation that danced in the club to Wisin and Yandel now gets to see Wisin act."
The international dimension of the premiere was evident in the comments that came in from Argentina, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Italy, and Peru. This collaboration is the latest in a series of get-togethers that have propelled the duo beyond Cuba. In April, they released "Paciente" together with Ozuna, their first official collaboration with the Puerto Rican artist, and in May, they recorded a song that fused reggaeton with flamenco.
The rise of the genre has also caught the attention of Don Omar, who at the end of August sent a public message of support to the Cuban cast and specifically congratulated Dany Ome.
Wisin, for his part, arrives at this collaboration in a state of creative fervor: just days earlier, he had released "La Universidad del Perreo," an album paying tribute to the roots of reggaeton, which reflects his desire to connect with the various expressions of Latin urban music.
"From wherever in the world you're listening to us, I want to wish you blessings and to encourage you to keep hitting play on the toughest lineup that Cuba has," wrote Dany Ome in the pinned comment of the video, which garnered almost 600 responses.
