The Puerto Rican producer Raphy Pina announced the official start of his return to music, and among the genres he wants to work on, he dropped a phrase that set social media ablaze: "the cast is coming as well."
Pina appeared in his recording studio—newly equipped with a microphone and speakers—to present "The Formula: Past • Present • Future," the concept under which he resumes his activities as a producer after several years away from the studios.
The announcement was straightforward and to the point: it opens the doors to composers, producers, recording engineers, mixing technicians, and even experts in equipment setup and maintenance. It doesn't matter if they've been in the business for decades or if they've just started. "What I want is to bring together talent," they had mentioned in a previous post that received a massive response from their followers.
But the phrase that caused the most commotion came towards the end of the video: "The cast is also coming, I've heard some crazy things." And just to eliminate any doubt, in the text that accompanied the post, he wrote in uppercase: "And yes... THE CAST IS ALSO INCLUDED."
The statement comes at a time of peak international popularity for Cuban music. Ozuna has already collaborated with Dany Ome and Kevincito El 13 on "Paciente." Wisin also joined the genre with "Extrañarte," alongside the same Cuban artists. The fact that Pina wants to step into this space speaks volumes about the moment the group is experiencing, especially since just a few days ago he confessed that he wasn't up to date on this musical genre.
The tone of the announcement was as enthusiastic as it was relaxed. Pina made it clear that he is in no hurry and has no intention of rushing to release songs: "We don't want to make a song and release it the next day; we want to build it, we want the team to listen to it, and we want everyone to contribute." He summarized his philosophy for this new stage in just a few words: "Zero ego. Zero gossip. Lots of music."
He also spoke about what he is musically searching for: "I’m looking for something that people will listen to that is different; it doesn’t have to be trendy, I'm not interested in trends. I’m waiting for a song that lasts forever."
Pina completed his prison sentence in July 2024 and has since gradually resumed his public activities. This return to the studio seems to mark a definitive turning point. "It's been years, years, years since I last entered my studio, where so many things were born, a place that has a different vibe," he acknowledged in the video.
The conclusion of the announcement left no room for interpretation: “DAD IS BACK”.
