A Cuban resident in Miami captured one of those moments that define the experience of driving on the Palmetto Expressway: he encountered a vehicle approaching head-on, going the wrong way, during peak hours.
Far from feeling panic, the driver recorded the scene and uploaded it to Instagram with a sign in the video that says it all: “Another purchased license”.
The clip, posted by the user @melanimore1989, gathered over 2,000 reactions and dozens of comments within a few hours. The phrase accompanying the video immediately became the perfect summary of the situation: "This is the Miami I know, papi. Thank you, Palmetto, for not losing your identity!".
The incident occurred at a time when the Palmetto Expressway (SR-826) was already experiencing the usual chaos of rush hour. The driver described the atmosphere with the unmistakable vocabulary of the Cuban diaspora: "There's a traffic jam like you wouldn't believe... This is a movie, my friend. Let's eat grapes!"

El Palmetto is one of the busiest highways in South Florida, with sections exceeding 250,000 vehicles daily near Hialeah, an area with a high concentration of the Cuban population.
It is not the first time that an incident on the Palmetto involving Cubans has gone viral: the highway serves as a recurring backdrop for traffic chaos and the humor with which the community navigates its daily life in Miami.
