At 8:00 PM, local Cuban time, the closes for the day this Friday, September 11, 2026, with both the dollar and the euro rising compared to the previous day. The greenback climbs four pesos, reaching approximately 692 Cuban pesos, while the euro increases by one peso to 785 CUP.

The MLC, in turn, has registered a decline and is now at about 461 pesos, although its quotation should be taken as indicative given the low volume of transactions supporting it.

The U.S. dollar is quoted at 692 Cuban pesos (CUP) at the close of this trading day. This represents an increase of four pesos compared to the previous day, when the average value was 688 CUP. In the last week, the dollar has risen by nine pesos, a 1.3% increase compared to seven days ago, when it was trading at 683 CUP.

Compared to 30 days ago, the currency has accumulated a gain of 26.5 pesos, although this comparison may partly reflect adjustments in the methodology of the index and not just market movement. In the last 30 days, the greenback has fluctuated between a minimum of 663 CUP and a maximum of 693 CUP. It continues to set the tone of the informal market amid a context of structural currency shortages.

Exchange Rate Evolution

The euro is valued at 785 Cuban pesos (CUP) at the close of this session. This represents an increase of one peso compared to the previous day, when the average value was 784 CUP. In the last week, the European currency has risen by 9.5 pesos, 1.2% above the 775 CUP recorded seven days ago. Over the last month, it has accumulated an increase of 24.5 pesos, with the same methodological caution applied to the 30-day comparison.

The euro has fluctuated between 746 and 787 CUP in the last four weeks. It surpasses the dollar by 93 pesos, solidifying its dominant position in the Cuban parallel market.

The MLC is quoted at around 461 Cuban pesos (CUP), a value that should be taken with caution due to the low volume of transactions recorded during this time period. This represents a drop of 12.5 pesos compared to the previous day, when the indicative value was 474 CUP. In the last week, it has declined by one peso from the 462 CUP of seven days ago.

In the last 30 days, it has fluctuated between a minimum of 408 CUP and a maximum of 529 CUP, a range that reflects the volatility and low liquidity of this currency. Without physical existence, its use is limited to state-run businesses that accept it, which restricts its circulation compared to cash currencies.

  • Exchange rate of the dollar USD to CUP: 692 CUP.
  • Exchange rate of the euro EUR to CUP: 785 CUP.
  • Exchange rate from MLC to CUP: 461 CUP (indicative value, limited data).

The official exchange rate of the Central Bank of Cuba (Segment III) is set at 651 CUP per dollar and 757 CUP per euro, which remains well below the values that govern everyday transactions in the informal currency market.

Although Segment III was presented as a more flexible exchange mechanism, its official rate remains very distant from that of the informal market and fails to meet the actual demand for foreign currency from the population. The gap between the official dollar rate (651 CUP) and the informal one (692 CUP) exceeds 40 pesos, while in the case of the euro, the difference between the official 757 CUP and the 785 CUP of the parallel market is around 28 pesos.

In a scenario of sustained inflation, low state wages, and increasing partial dollarization of the economy, every variation in the informal market directly impacts internal prices and the purchasing power of Cubans.

The accumulated rise of the dollar in recent weeks reinforces an upward trend that puts pressure on the finances of those who depend on remittances or need foreign currency to cover everyday expenses.
