A seemingly simple question turned into a stark portrait of Cuba in 2026, when the content creators from the Instagram Assh & Leving profile took to the streets to uncover: “What does Cuba have that no other country has?”
The responses came quickly, but few pointed to national pride. Most of the interviewees mentioned “poverty, hunger, and the blackout”.
Not everyone focused on the shortcomings of Cuba. Some highlighted, with evident effort, positive elements such as "the eternal summer", "the distribution", "Cuban salsa", and "women, because there are none like Cuban women."
In the interviews, there were also harsh confessions: "I have never traveled... I can't make a comparison of Cuba with another country."
There were also those who left strong criticisms of the Government in the comments: “The lack of freedom of expression. None of them thought of it, and many remained silent for the same reason.”
“Blackouts” are, without a doubt, the element that sets Cuba apart from the rest of the world, according to the interviewees.
In July and August, power outages in Cuba lasted between 20 and 26 hours in some areas, with sectors experiencing more than 72 consecutive hours without electricity.
Entire families have spent nights sleeping on rooftops, doorways, parks, and even along the Malecón in Havana to escape the heat without fans or air conditioning.
The question that titles the video acts as an ironic mirror: perhaps intended to evoke pride, it ultimately captures the collective mood of an exhausted population.
