The Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections, Alina Garcia, along with the organization Farm Share and the Mayor of Doral, Christi Fraga, announced a free food distribution for families in the community, scheduled for next Tuesday, September 15, starting at 9 AM.
The event will take place at the main office of the Supervisor of Elections, located at 2700 NW 87th Avenue, Doral, FL 33172, and will continue until supplies last.
The food will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and completely free of charge, with no income requirements or documentation needed to participate.
Vehicles must enter the distribution line through Doral Central Park, by the entrance located on NW 92nd Avenue, from where participants will be directed to the drop-off point.
In addition to Farm Share and Mayor Fraga, representatives from the Doral Police Department, the city's Parks and Recreation Department, and the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office will participate in the operation.
The event coincides with National Voter Registration Day, which will be celebrated on September 15, 2026, and the Office of the Supervisor of Elections will take advantage of the day to share electoral information and encourage eligible citizens to register on the rolls.
"Serving our community goes beyond managing elections. It means being present, being accessible, and staying engaged with the people we serve," Garcia stated in the official announcement.
"Whether it's helping a voter prepare for an election or assisting a family in getting food to their table, our goal is to maintain an active, community-focused office where residents of Miami-Dade know they can rely on us."
This is not the first time this alliance has organized an event of this kind: in February 2026, a similar distribution took place at the same location, also with entry through Doral Central Park, making this collaboration a recurring initiative.
Farm Share, the largest independent food bank in Florida, was founded in 1991 and operates in all 67 counties of the state, rescuing surplus agricultural products to distribute them free of charge to families in need.
The social context surrounding the event is significant: according to data from 2022, 27.4% of children in Miami-Dade live in households with food insecurity, and around 287,650 minors in South Florida face difficulties accessing adequate food.
This reality has driven various public initiatives in the county. During the summer of 2026, Miami-Dade offered free breakfast and lunch for minors under 18 in 170 schools throughout the county through the Summer BreakSpot program, funded by the United States Department of Agriculture.
Alina Garcia, a Cuban-American, was elected Miami-Dade Elections Supervisor in November 2024 with 56% of the votes, a position created in 2018 following the approval of Florida's Amendment 10.
Christi Fraga, for her part, has been the mayor of Doral since 2022—the first woman to hold that position in the city's history—and was reelected in November 2024 with nearly 80% of the votes.
