The Cuban reggaeton artist Ja Rulay reacted this weekend to a video where the influencer La Cintumbare defends drug use. The musician warned her about this behavior: "It's going to destroy you little by little."
The episode began when La Cintumbare, whose real name is Cinthya Medrano García, posted a video on her Instagram account where she defiantly responded to those who criticized her for using "piedra"—a colloquial term for crack.
"Let me enjoy that stone peacefully. Anyone who criticizes me is just envious, because you all know how great that is; I was really having a good time," said the influencer.
The post accumulated over 127,000 views and dozens of comments, but it was the response from Ja Rulay that garnered the most attention.
The artist, one of the most recognized figures in the Cuban cast, left a clear and non-aggressive message: "I don’t know what example you’re setting; you know that this isn't right. You should seek help because, little by little, it will destroy you, and many people want to see better in you."
Ja Rulay appealed to La Cintumbare's sense of responsibility as a public figure, but especially as a mother: "Think about the family, about your son, because you are the star of this."
The reggaeton artist also based his warning on personal experiences. "I tell you this from the heart. I don't care what people might think for delivering this message; I just say what is right and what I believe, because believe me, I've seen and lived how people who were very well established have ended up on the streets," he expressed.
Ja Rulay's comment received 774 likes and generated 38 replies, becoming one of the most notable ones in the post.
La Cintumbare is a controversial figure on Cuban social media. She was deported from the United States to Cuba in February 2025 for failing to appear at a migration hearing in October 2023, which resulted in a deportation order. Since her return to the island, she has been at the center of multiple controversies on social media.
Ja Rulay, broke up with Planet Records in June 2026 to establish his own record label, PHP —an acronym for "Peace, Humility, and Patience."
In 2024, the musician called on his social media for more police action in Cuba against drugs. He stated that he doesn't care what people say about him for taking that stance and specifically demanded that the authorities protect children, in light of the increase in the use of the dangerous synthetic drug known as "el químico".
In July, Public Health authorities warned that the drug consumption in Cuba increased by more than 200% compared to the pre-pandemic period. Doctor Alejandro Mestre Barroso, a first-degree specialist in Toxicology, presented data that contrasts with the official narrative in a country that has attempted to hide the problem of addiction for decades.
"The increase in consumption has been dramatic. In 2024, the National Toxicology Center reported 600 cases, of which more than 90% were related to synthetic drugs. That's just the tip of the iceberg," Mestre warned.
