Neighbors and a friend of the victims provided new details this Sunday about the triple shooting that shook Little Havana in Miami early Saturday morning, an incident that left two people dead, a man in critical condition, and a teenager with minor injuries.
The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday at the corner of Northwest 17th Street and Northwest 3rd Avenue, in the heart of the neighborhood, near LoanDepot Park. Miami Police responded to reports of gunfire and found three adults with gunshot wounds and a 13-year-old girl with cuts on her head.
Miami Fire Rescue declared a man and a woman dead at the scene, whose identities have not been released. A third adult, 32 years old, was transported to the hospital in critical condition. The teenager arrived at the medical center in stable condition; paramedics specified that her injury was a "laceration from being hit in some way, not with a knife."
Residents of the area described the terror they experienced upon hearing the gunshots in the early morning. Joel Dueñas, a neighbor from the area, recounted the moment vividly: "Bam, bam, bam... Then I told my wife: those are gunshots."
Another resident, Luis López, also heard the gunshots but chose not to go outside. "I felt scared, but I didn't go out," he said, adding that those living in the house where the shooting occurred "are new neighbors."
A friend of the deceased spoke with Telemundo 51 off the record and offered an account that has yet to be confirmed by authorities: the man and woman who died were reportedly a couple in the past, and the attacker allegedly arrived at the residence, shot at the woman and another man, and then took his own life.
The spokesperson for the Miami Police, Kenia Fallat, had pointed out from the beginning that "the circumstances surrounding the incident appear to be related to domestic violence." However, authorities have not confirmed the murder-suicide hypothesis.
This type of tragedy is not foreign to the area. In recent months, the Miami-Dade region has witnessed several similar incidents: a shooting in Little Havana in August 2025 left one dead and one critically injured, and a Cuban mother and her daughter were shot dead in Florida earlier this year.
