The Cuban singer Ivette Cepeda announced this Sunday a concert at the Nave Oficio de Isla, the cultural space in Havana directed by Osvaldo Doimeadiós, for the upcoming October 3 at 5:00 p.m. The announcement was made through a video posted on her Facebook account, accompanied by a message describing the evening as an occasion to celebrate, say goodbye, and share.
In her post, Cepeda wrote: "If you throw me boxes with verses, I'll throw you drawers with songs. On the 3rd at the Nave, it will be an afternoon to LAUGH AND SING among friends. A farewell to REMEMBER. Don't miss it!!" The designation of "farewell to remember" adds an emotional touch to the event, although the artist has not publicly confirmed her reasons.
In the 31-second video, it is Doimeadiós himself who takes the floor to invite the audience and hint at the excitement surrounding the event. "October 3rd, don't miss the concert that Ivette Cepeda will have here at La Nave. I know she has so many followers that we might have to add another performance," warned the venue's director, pointing to the possibility of doubling the presentation if demand requires it.
Doimeadiós also revealed her intuition that the performance on October 3rd will not be an isolated event. "It will be the first of the concerts she will hold at La Nave. Afterwards, they will become regular occurrences," she noted. Regarding the tone of the evening, the artist jokingly promised, "to share kisses, songs, and laughter."
Nave Oficio de Isla is a creative community that emerged in 2019 and is directed by Osvaldo Doimeadiós, based in the Old San José Warehouses on the Avenue of the Port in Old Havana. The space currently occupied was entrusted to Doimeadiós by the city historian Eusebio Leal Spengler and officially opened its doors on December 16, 2020.
The project, centered around theater, brings together creators from music, dance, visual arts, and audiovisual fields, in addition to developing educational and research activities. In 2025, Doimeadiós publicly stated that censorship in Cuban television has distanced him from that medium, preferring the creative freedom of theater and spaces like La Nave.
Ivette Cepeda is one of the recognized voices in Cuban popular music. Born in Sancti Spíritus in 1963, she developed much of her career before gaining prominence as a soloist in shows, cabarets, and nightclubs, particularly in Havana. At the age of 46, she made a significant leap with her first solo concert, Estaciones, held on November 7 and 8, 2008, at the National Museum of Fine Arts Theatre.
In November 2021, she released La rosa de Jericó, her first studio album with the group Reflexión, featuring twelve songs by authors including Polito Ibáñez, Carlos Varela, Ireno García, Augusto Blanca, and Santiago Feliú. In 2022, she premiered "Como la lluvia," recorded in Isla de la Juventud.
The energy crisis affecting Cuba has also impacted the artistic life of the singer. In May 2025, a blackout interrupted her concert at the Cine Teatro Camilo Cienfuegos in Santa Clara, to which Cepeda responded with resilience. "I was actually born in Santa Clara, as my mother told me, during Hurricane Flora. So I wasn't scared during the blackout [...] I came here to sing from the heart... that's why we came, and this town stays deep in my heart, shining even in the midst of the blackout," she wrote at the time on her social media.
