The Cuban singer Ivette Cepeda announced this Sunday a concert at the Nave Oficio de Isla, the cultural venue in Havana directed by Osvaldo Doimeadiós, scheduled for October 3rd at 5:00 p.m. The announcement was made through a video posted on her Facebook account, accompanied by a message describing the evening as an occasion to celebrate, say farewell, and share.
In her post, Cepeda wrote: "If you throw boxes of verses at me, I'll throw drawers of songs back at you. On the 3rd at La Nave, it will be an afternoon to LAUGH AND SING among friends. A farewell to REMEMBER. Don't miss it!!" The description of it as a "farewell to remember" adds an emotional nuance to the event, although the artist has not publicly confirmed her reasons.
In the 31-second video, it is Doimeadiós himself who speaks to invite the audience and share the excitement surrounding the event. "October 3rd, don't miss the concert that Ivette Cepeda is going to have here at La Nave. I know she has so many followers that we might have to do a double show," warned the director of the venue, pointing out the possibility of adding another performance if demand requires it.
Doimeadiós also revealed her intuition that the performance on October 3rd will not be an isolated event. "It's going to be the first of the concerts she will hold at La Nave. After that, they will become a regular occurrence," she pointed out. Regarding the tone of the evening, the artist jokingly promised, "to share kisses, songs, and laughter."
Nave Oficio de Isla is a creative community that emerged in 2019 and is led by Osvaldo Doimeadiós, based in the Old San José Depository Warehouses on the Avenue of the Port of Old Havana. The space currently occupied was granted to Doimeadiós by the city's historian Eusebio Leal Spengler, and it officially opened its doors on December 16, 2020.
The project, centered around theater, brings together creators from music, dance, visual arts, and audiovisual fields, and also engages in educational and research activities. In 2025, Doimeadiós publicly declared that censorship on Cuban television has distanced him from that medium, as he prefers the creative freedom of theater and spaces like La Nave.
Ivette Cepeda is one of the recognized voices of Cuban popular music. Born in 1963, she developed much of her career before gaining prominence as a soloist in shows, cabarets, and nightclubs, particularly in Havana. At the age of 46, she made a significant leap with her first solo concert, Estaciones, which was held on November 7 and 8, 2008, at the National Museum of Fine Arts Theater.
In November 2021, he released The Rose of Jericho, his first studio album with the group Reflexión, featuring twelve songs by authors including Polito Ibáñez, Carlos Varela, Ireno García, Augusto Blanca, and Santiago Feliú. In 2022, he premiered "Like the Rain," recorded in Isla de la Juventud.
The energy crisis currently affecting Cuba has also impacted the artistic life of the singer. In May 2025, a blackout interrupted her concert at the Cine Teatro Camilo Cienfuegos in Santa Clara, an event to which Cepeda responded with strength. "I actually was born in Santa Clara, as my mother told me, in the midst of Cyclone Flora. So I wasn’t scared during the blackout [...] I came to sing from the center... that's why we came, and I carry this town deep within me that still shines even in the blackout," she wrote at that time on her social media.
