A reward of 150,000 pesos has been offered for information that leads to the location of a man identified as a suspected accomplice in the theft of gold items that occurred this Thursday at a private store in the city of Camagüey.
The journalist José L. Tan Estrada shared the offer this Thursday on Facebook along with an image of a man he identified as one of the alleged participants in the incident.
«A reward of 150,000 pesos is offered to anyone who can provide information that will help locate this man,» Tan stated in the post.
Hours earlier, the journalist had reported the theft of gold jewelry at the private store located on Republic Street in Camagüey.
According to the information released by Tan, several individuals were captured by the security cameras of the establishment while committing the robbery.
The communicator also noted that the police were working on the case.
The offering of money for leads reflects a practice recently adopted by residents of Camagüey who turn to social media after experiencing thefts.
On September 9th, a resident offered 500,000 pesos for information to locate a man accused of fleeing with his motorcycle after allegedly posing as a buyer.
Reports of thefts and assaults have been frequent in the province over the past few months.
At the beginning of September, two men were reported for breaking into a home and assaulting an elderly woman in broad daylight to steal her jewelry and a phone, according to a report also shared by Tan Estrada.
In August, the theft of a motorcycle and electric bicycles in a private parking lot once again raised concerns among residents about the safety of these types of vehicles in the city.
A report released at the end of that same month by municipal authorities in Camagüey revealed over 600 offenses during the first half of 2026 and noted that 40% were concentrated in forceful thefts, crimes against life, and theft of cattle in its various forms.
The report also noted an increase in nighttime patrols by local authorities.
