The U.S. dollar rose again this Friday in the Cuban informal market, on a day also marked by gains in the euro and the MLC, while the Cuban peso continues to lose ground against the main currencies.
According to , at 10:00 a.m. the dollar was valued at 730 Cuban pesos (CUP), five pesos higher than the 725 CUP recorded the previous day.
The US dollar continues to follow the upward trend of recent weeks. Just a week ago, it was at 703 CUP, resulting in a gain of 27 pesos during that time.
The difference is even greater compared to a month ago, when the dollar was around 668 CUP. Since then, it has gained 62 pesos, and this Friday it reaches its highest level in the last 30 days.
Exchange Rate Evolution
The euro also opened higher and is now at 832 CUP, compared to 829 CUP from the previous day. A week ago, it was trading at 803 CUP, and 30 days ago it was around 758 CUP.
With its current exchange rate, the European currency holds a difference of 102 pesos over the dollar and remains the highest valued currency among the main references in the informal market.
The MLC was around 498 CUP. In the previous session, it stood at 473 CUP and a week ago it was at 454 CUP.

In the official market, the Segment III of the Central Bank of Cuba set the dollar at 678 CUP and the euro at 771 CUP, values lower than those observed in informal operations.
The difference reaches 52 pesos per dollar and 61 pesos per euro, reflecting the ongoing gap between both markets.
