At 10:00 a.m., Cuban local time,

reports new increases for the US dollar and the euro this Saturday, September 26, 2026.

The dollar rises to 733 Cuban pesos, the euro strengthens at 840 pesos, and the MLC, with scarce and only indicative data, points to 489 pesos.

Summary of exchange rates

  • Exchange rate of the dollar USD to CUP: 733 CUP.
  • Exchange rate of the euro EUR to CUP: 840 CUP.
  • Exchange rate from MLC to CUP: 489 CUP (indicative value, limited data available).

The dollar rises and hits its highest level in 30 days

The US dollar is trading at 733 Cuban pesos (CUP) in the informal market this Saturday. This represents an increase of three pesos compared to the previous day, when the rate was at 730 pesos.

Exchange Rate Evolution

The American dollar has experienced a sustained rise: seven days ago, it was exchanged at 708 pesos, which represents an increase of 25 pesos over the past week (+3.5%).

Thirty days ago, the average value was 670 pesos, although this comparison may partly reflect adjustments in the index methodology rather than just market movement.

Today's value matches the highest recorded for the dollar in the last 30 days.

The euro reaches its highest level in the last 30 days

The euro is currently trading at 840 Cuban pesos (CUP), reaching its highest level in the past month.

This represents a sudden increase of eight pesos compared to the previous day, when it was exchanged at 832 pesos.

In the last week, the European currency has risen 35 pesos (+4.4%), from the 805 pesos it was at seven days ago.

Thirty days ago, the euro was at 760 pesos; however, similar to the case of the dollar, this comparison should be approached with caution as it may involve methodological adjustments.

The euro exceeds the dollar by 107 pesos, consolidating its dominant position in the Cuban parallel market.

The MLC drops slightly, with indicative data

The MLC, for its part, records a reference value of 489 Cuban pesos (CUP).

The available data for this time slot is limited, so the figure should be taken with caution.

This represents a decrease of nine pesos compared to the previous day, when the reference value was 498 pesos.

In the last week, it has decreased by 2.5 pesos (-0.5%), from 492 pesos a week ago.

Without physical existence, its use is limited to state-run businesses that accept it, which restricts its circulation compared to cash currencies.

The gap with the official rate is becoming increasingly wide

The official exchange rate of the Central Bank of Cuba (Segment III), at 681 CUP per dollar and 776 CUP per euro, remains well below the values that prevail in everyday practice in the informal currency market.

The difference between the official rate and the informal rate reaches 52 pesos for the dollar and 64 pesos for the euro.

Although Segment III was introduced as a more flexible exchange mechanism, its official rate remains far from that of the informal market and fails to meet the genuine demand for foreign currency from the population.

In the last month, the official dollar rose from 636 to 681 CUP, while in the informal market it increased from 670 to 733 pesos, demonstrating that the gap is widening rather than closing.

In an environment of sustained inflation, low state wages, and increasing partial dollarization of the economy, every change in the informal market directly affects internal prices and the purchasing power of Cubans.
