Two dolphins surprised beachgoers this Sunday at Lido Beach in Sarasota, Florida, by jumping several times close to the shore while many people watched and recorded the spectacle.
The meteorologist Matt Devitt shared a video of the moment on Facebook, in which the cetaceans appear to simultaneously emerge from the water in front of the visitors at the beach.
“This is amazing! The dolphins put on an incredible show today for a crowd along Lido Beach. Florida’s nature at its finest!,” wrote Devitt while sharing the video.
The recording shows how the two animals leap out of the water while several people react with surprise from the shore and others try to capture the scene with their phones.
Devitt notably highlighted the reaction of those who witnessed the moment.
"My favorite part is hearing the 'ooooh' and 'aaah' from the crowd," he commented below his post.
Lido Beach is located in Sarasota, on the Gulf Coast of Florida, and is an area used for swimming and other water recreational activities.
This is not the first time that dolphins have staged striking scenes off the coast of Florida.
In July, several dolphins were seen playing and jumping among the large waves caused by Tropical Storm Bertha in Navarre Beach, in the northwest of the state.
The images were also shared by Devitt, who highlighted how the animals seemed to take advantage of the strong waves to propel themselves, in a scene that quickly captured attention on social media.
Another sighting occurred in July 2024, when a dolphin was recorded swimming and jumping in Miami Bay, generating numerous comments among those who celebrated the unexpected appearance of the animal.
Months earlier, also in 2024, a rare white dolphin was spotted near Clearwater while swimming alongside another individual. The unusual coloration drew particular attention due to the extreme rarity of albinism among these cetaceans.
