Two teenagers, aged 16 and 17, were injured in an accident that occurred in the town of Tortuguilla, San Antonio del Sur municipality, in Guantánamo, allegedly during an illegal motorcycle race.

The official profile reported on the incident this Saturday, specifying that both adolescents initially received medical attention at the San Antonio del Sur polyclinic and were later referred to the Pediatric Hospital of Guantánamo due to the injuries sustained.

According to the version of the spokesperson for the government, individuals contacted the page and claimed that the two young men were transported unconscious, although this detail had also not been officially confirmed.

According to those testimonies, prior to the accident, there would have been a motorcycle and scooter exhibition at a local mipyme, allegedly without authorization from the municipal authorities.

Subsequently, he would have started an illegal activity on the public road, and in that context, the accident occurred in which the two teenagers were injured.

However, Villa Casalbore, the venue where the prior activity took place, denied in the comments of the post that a motorcycle race had been held on its premises.

"The activity took place in our facility and at no time were there any motorcycle races or anything of the sort, as it was prohibited from the very beginning," stated the establishment's account.

Villa Casalbore also stated that the accident occurred outside the venue and that, according to witnesses, it happened when a motorcyclist collided with one of the young people. He also assured that the event held at their facilities had the necessary permits.

The establishment also questioned the information initially disseminated, although it acknowledged that illegal races do occur frequently on the highway and called for greater action from the authorities.

"Every day, these types of races take place on the highway, and no one takes action," Villa Casalbore stated, while wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.

After that clarification, Guantánamo and its Truth publicly responded that its report did not state that the alleged race had taken place within the establishment nor that Villa Casalbore had been responsible for organizing it.

"Our note does not state that the race took place within their premises or that their establishment organized it. According to the testimonies received, the accident allegedly occurred outside, after the activity, in the context of an alleged illegal race," the profile explained.

The page added that it used the term "allegedly" because it was not present at the location nor had official confirmation regarding the exact circumstances of the accident.

"We respect your version and acknowledge that if it was prohibited from the beginning and the activity had permits, that clarification is important," added the profile, which also agreed with Villa Casalbore that illegal races must be confronted.

Both versions agree that the accident occurred outside the establishment, but they differ on whether the event was related to an illegal race.

Illegal motorcycle races in Cuba have been reported for years in various provinces, resulting in serious accidents and even fatalities.

In September 2025, a police operation in Pinar del Río resulted in fines, arrests, and the confiscation of motorcycles and other vehicles linked to illegal racing.

The authorities then acknowledged that these competitions had become a recurring problem in several areas of the province.

A year earlier, the Police following complaints from residents about the races taking place on the Nuevo Vial of the road to Camajuaní.

The risks of these practices have also been documented in previous accidents. In July 2023, images emerged of a motorcyclist who lost control during an illegal race in Camagüey and was thrown several meters.

People close to the young man later assured that he survived the accident.

That same year, a man died in Cienfuegos after being struck by two vehicles that, according to his family, were participating in an illegal race in the Rancho Luna area.

Most recently, in August 2026, following the death of a young man in a motorcycle accident in Santiago de Cuba, residents again reported illegal street racing and speeding on avenues such as Trocha, Carrera del Morro, Ferreiro, and Garzón.

In that case, it could not be confirmed that the victim was participating in a race.
