A young man suffered a fracture in his arm after an alleged assailant threw a piece of marble at him to knock him down and steal his motorcycle in Camagüey.
According to a report circulated this Saturday by Cuban journalist José L. Tan Estrada, the incident occurred in front of the Palace of the Pioneers, in an area where the victim, identified in the images as Víctor Jonhson Pimentel, claimed that similar situations had already been recorded.
The young man recounted that the assailant hurled the stone directly at his head with the apparent intention of knocking him off the motorcycle and seizing the vehicle.
The victim managed to raise their arm to shield themselves and received the impact there, which caused a fracture.
"They nearly killed me," he assured while describing the violence of the attack.
According to his testimony, the object used was a fragment of marble.
The authorities in Camagüey recently acknowledged a situation of increasing concern regarding crime.
An official analysis on the first half of 2026 recorded over 600 offenses in the provincial capital, with 40% focused on burglary, crimes against individuals, and various forms of livestock theft.
In the midst of the deep economic and social crisis that Cuba is experiencing, reports of violent thefts of motorcycles, motor scooters, and electric bicycles have proliferated in Camagüey and other provinces of the country, often accompanied by assaults to deprive victims of their vehicles.
In August, the Camagüey Police publicly returned an electric scooter that had been stolen during a knife-point robbery near the Plaza de la Revolución Mayor General Ignacio Agramonte.
According to the report, two individuals threatened the owner with knives and forced him to hand over the vehicle.
Hours later, it emerged that an electric motorcycle and an electric bicycle had been stolen from a private parking lot in the city, a case that reignited residents' complaints about insecurity in these areas.
In September, another resident of Camagüey offered half a million pesos as a reward after a man allegedly pretended to be a buyer and escaped with his motorcycle.
According to the report, the alleged perpetrator is said to have thrown the vehicle owner during the journey and fled with the motorcycle.
The violence associated with the theft of transportation means has also resulted in serious victims. In April, a woman was left in critical condition after being attacked with a knife near the Camagüey Train Terminal in an attempt to steal her bicycle.
It was the second violent assault reported in that area in less than a week.
Outside of Camagüey, similar incidents have also been documented. In August, a 25-year-old reported that two masked men stabbed him and stole his motorcycle in Vedado, Havana.
According to his account, one of the assailants attempted to wound him in the chest but ended up hitting him in the arm.
