The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced a new increase in various fees related to immigration procedures that will come into effect on October 16, 2026.
The adjustment was announced on September 30 and will affect, among other processes, asylum applications, work permits, Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and certain travel documents and immigration parole.
USCIS explained that the new prices correspond to the inflation adjustment for fiscal year 2027 for certain fees established by federal law HR-1 (“One Big Beautiful Bill Act”). According to the agency, the increases take into account the inflation recorded between July 2025 and July 2026.
These are the USCIS fees that are increasing
The annual fee for asylum applications will increase from 102 to 105 dollars.
The fee for the , Application for Travel Documents, Parole Documents, and Entry/Exit Records, in cases subject to the immigration parole fee, will increase from 1,020 to 1,050 dollars.
The fee applicable to the for certain initial employment authorization applications will also increase. The cost will rise from $560 to $570.
According to USCIS, this amount corresponds to certain initial applications for the Employment Authorization Document (EAD), including those related to asylum seekers, emergency work permits, and individuals with Temporary Protected Status.
For its part, the I-821 Form, Application for Temporary Protected Status, will increase from 510 to 520 dollars.
USCIS warns that it will reject applications with the incorrect fee
The new amounts will be mandatory for applications with postmarks from October 16, 2026 or a later date.
USCIS warned that any application submitted after that date, which is subject to one of the modified fees, must include the new corresponding amount.
Requests with postmarks from October 16 or later that do not include the correct submission fee will be rejected, the agency reported.
The adjustment stems from the implementation of the immigration fees outlined in the HR 1 Law. USCIS had initially announced these fees in July 2025, and the legislation specifies that certain amounts will be adjusted for inflation starting in fiscal year 2026 and in subsequent fiscal years.
