DR Power Equipment has recalled approximately 42,860 wheeled string trimmers from its Pilot and Premier lines sold in the United States, after receiving 19 reports of fires involving these products, including two incidents with minor injuries. The measure also impacts about 340 units sold in Canada.
The alert 27-016 from the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), published on October 8, 2026, warns that grass and other debris can accumulate in the machines and ignite, posing a risk of fires and burns. Reported minor injuries include blisters on hands and feet.
Which DR Power models are affected?
The recall includes all serial numbers of these eight models, and only these models:
- T4X1076DMN
- T4X1076DMNR
- T4X1076DMNSD
- T4X1176DMN
- T4X1176DMN-1
- T4X1176DMNR
- TR43076DMN
- TR43076DMNR
To verify if a machine is included, the owner must locate the label with the model number on the side of the frame and compare it with the list. The affected equipment consists of push mowers with wheels, in orange and black, featuring the DR Power logo. This does not include riding lawn tractors or equipment designed for seated operation; the recall does not encompass all products of the brand either.
The affected units were sold between November 2022 and July 2026 at prices ranging from $380 to $550. They were available at retailers such as Ace, TSC, and Bomgaars, as well as other hardware stores, home improvement centers, and gardening equipment distributors across the United States, in addition to the website drpower.com.
How to request free repair
The CPSC urges owners to stop using immediately the affected brush cutters and to contact DR Power Equipment to request a free repair kit. If they prefer not to install it themselves, they can also arrange for a free installation through an authorized dealer.
The announced solution for this withdrawal is the repair of the equipment, not its return or the refund of the purchase price.
To request assistance, DR Power can be reached at 800-854-3194, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. You can also write to recall@drpower.com or visit drpower.com/recalls.
