The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) arrested Angel Ramirez-Castillo, a Cuban citizen with convictions for attempted murder and aggravated assault in Miami, and included his case in the official statement "The Worst of the Worst" published on Thursday.
The DHS presented Ramirez-Castillo along with three others arrested from Jamaica, El Salvador, and Guatemala, whose criminal records include murder, statutory rape, kidnapping, and drug trafficking.
The Secretary of National Security, Markwayne Mullin, accompanied the announcement with a strong statement: "The brave patriots of ICE arrested murderers, sexual predators, kidnappers, and other threats to public safety in our communities. Under President Trump, there will be no sanctuary for illegal aliens. If you are in this country illegally, we will find you, arrest you, and remove you from our nation."
The case of the Cuban adds to a series of similar detentions recorded throughout 2026.
In recent weeks, DHS included the Cuban Marco Nunez-Mitjan, arrested in Orlando, among the 5,000 new profiles added to the platform at the end of September, with a background that included lewd acts with a minor and failure to register as a sex offender.
Earlier, in July, another Cuban citizen appeared on the list linked to the Sureños gang and with a history of child exploitation and negligent homicide.
In August, a third case involved a Cuban with sexual offenses against a minor and arson, and in September ICE arrested another Cuban in St. Petersburg with convictions that included soliciting the commission of a homicide.
The platform "The Worst of the Worst" (WOW.DHS.gov) was launched in December 2025 by the Trump administration to publish profiles of immigrants without legal status arrested by ICE with serious criminal records.
By the end of September, the site surpassed 40,000 registered profiles, following the addition of 5,000 new cases in that update.
"We have added another 5,000 criminals to our website of the most dangerous, bringing the total available to over 40,000," Mullin stated on that occasion.
The arrests of Cubans by ICE have surged in the past two years. According to an analysis by the Cato Institute, the arrests of citizens from the island increased by 463% between October 2024 and January 2026, amid the tightening of immigration policy driven by the Trump administration.
The ICE office in Miami, which has jurisdiction over Florida, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, recorded over 41,000 arrests between January 2025 and April 2026, averaging approximately 120 detentions per day.
