Luis Carlos Romero Murdoch, 16 years old, known among his family and friends as "Luisito," has been missing since Saturday morning when he was swept away by strong waves while swimming with other youths in Havana Bay.

The incident occurred in an area popularly known as the Shark's Cave, as reported by Infobae, based on testimonies shared by the Facebook page "Nio Reporting a Crime".

According to those accounts, the sea conditions suddenly worsened, and the teenager attempted to get out of the water while calling for help from those with him.

One of his friends tried to hold him back, but a wave swept both of them towards the rocks. The other young man managed to grab hold of a ledge and get to safety, while Luis Carlos disappeared beneath the water.

Rescue teams launched an operation to locate him, but the divers had to suspend their dives due to the strong waves, which made it unsafe to continue the efforts.

According to "Nio Reporting a Crime," the family remained at the location for hours but ended up leaving without information about the teenager's whereabouts.

As of the time of the report, it had not been announced when rescue operations might resume, nor was there an official statement from the Cuban authorities regarding the incident.

The case once again highlights the dangers of swimming in areas along the Havana coastline that are exposed to strong currents and rocky bottoms.
