A 43-year-old Cuban was arrested in Irapuato, a city in the Mexican state of Guanajuato, after municipal police officers found five packages containing suspected drugs among his belongings during a traffic stop.
The man, identified as Junier "N.", was riding a motorcycle without plates and without a helmet when officers signaled for him to stop for violating traffic regulations, according to local media El Sol de Irapuato and Kuali.
During the inspection, the police found four packets containing a substance with characteristics similar to methamphetamine, known as crystal, and another with a plant that appeared to be marijuana.
The Cuban has been made available to the competent authorities, who are responsible for determining his legal status. So far, no formal charges or expert results have been reported that confirm the composition of the substances.
The case adds to other arrests of Cuban citizens for alleged drug-related offenses in Mexico during 2026.
In September, two Cubans were arrested in Toluca, State of Mexico, accused of alleged thefts and drug sales. During the inspection, the authorities found ten bags containing suspected marijuana.
There have also been reported arrests of Cubans for drug dealing in Cancún, Tabasco, Toluca, and Tapachula during the same period.
