The Municipal Police of Toluca, in the State of Mexico, arrested two Cuban citizens alleged to be involved in muggings and drug dealing in the vicinity of the Fundadores Science Park.
The detainees have been identified as Wilber "N", 27 years old, and Jordan "N", 23, according to a official statement from the Toluca City Council.
The capture occurred at the intersection of Santos Degollado and Plaza España streets, in the San Miguel Apinahuisco Sur neighborhood, after operators from the Municipal Command Center tracked the suspects' movements in real time using the city's surveillance cameras.
According to the authorities, the two young men were being investigated for allegedly assaulting pedestrians using a motorcycle and selling drugs in that area of Toluca.
During the search, the agents found 10 bags containing suspected marijuana, five inside the backpack of each detainee.
Wilber and Jordan were brought before the Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico, which is responsible for determining their legal status.
They were subsequently handed over to the National Immigration Institute (INM) to verify their immigration status in Mexico and determine if their deportation is warranted.
At the beginning of September, a Cuban was arrested in Sinaloa along with four Colombians in an operation in which authorities seized nine AK-47 rifles and around five kilos of suspected marijuana.
In August, another citizen from the island was arrested in Cancún with over 100 doses of illegal substances.
Also, Carlos Alejandro «N», 33 years old, was arrested days earlier in Cancún, investigated for alleged drug dealing and multiple thefts from businesses, pedestrians, and vehicles.
At the end of June, seven Cubans were arrested in Holbox, Quintana Roo, during an operation in which substances identified by authorities as marijuana, cocaine, crack, and ecstasy were seized.
