The families of Kevin Ramírez, 18, and Cristian Rolando Contreras, 20, renewed this Tuesday their public appeal to find the person responsible for the double homicide that took their lives in July 2025 in Hialeah, offering a reward of $15,000 for information leading to an arrest.

Both young men were found dead on July 29, 2025, in the apartment that Ramírez rented in the Atlántico at Aquabella complex, on West 35th Way. A client who arrived for a haircut found the door open and called 911 upon discovering the two friends unconscious.

The Hialeah Police confirmed days later that they died from multiple gunshot wounds.

What makes the case even more heartbreaking is what never happened: two days after the crime, Ramírez and Contreras were scheduled to fly to Medellín, Colombia, with their friend Brian León.

“Cris and Kevin were amazing; they were the brothers one could not ask for more. God put them in my life,” León told NBC6.

Both worked as barbers at Billionaire Barbershop in Hialeah. Contreras, known professionally as "Chris Fades," had managed to establish himself in just three years as one of the most successful barbers of his age in Miami. "Kevin was on the same path," León noted.

More than 14 months after the crime, the investigation remains open and without arrests, as confirmed by the Hialeah Police. Cristian's brother, Oscar Contreras, reported at the time that none of the surveillance cameras in the complex were functioning, which complicated the search for clues from the very beginning.

"Since then, we haven't been the same," said Oscar, who also described his brother as someone who meant "the world" to him.

Ethan, Kevin's cousin, remembered him as someone who inspired those around him: "He was like an older brother. He was a really good friend, the kind of friend who motivated you to be better."

Kevin's mother was caught on camera crying as she sought help from the public in Spanish to find her son's killer. "This is my life at the moment, I am dying inside," she expressed.

The lieutenant Eddie Rodríguez of the Hialeah Police summarized the accumulated frustration: "For too long, the responsible person or people have been walking free while the families have been the ones suffering all this time."

The case was covered from its early hours, when a young barber was identified among the two individuals found deceased in the Hialeah apartment.

Anyone with information can contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers anonymously by calling 305-471-TIPS (8477). Informants may be eligible to receive a reward of $15,000 if their information leads to an arrest.
