The Cuban actor Néstor Jiménez had his motorcycle stolen after participating in the celebrations for the premiere of the film Neurótica anónima, directed by Jorge Perugorría and starring Mirtha Ibarra, an incident that overshadowed the joy of the artists gathered to celebrate the arrival of the film in the theaters of Havana.
The incident was reported on Facebook by casting director Libia Batista Mora, who expressed her sorrow over what happened during the gathering following the premiere.
"It's a shame that Néstor Jiménez had his motorcycle stolen; the joy that followed turned into sadness," wrote Batista Mora.
The casting director also expressed her concern about insecurity and theft in Cuba, which she finds increasingly alarming, and warned about the danger these situations pose to people's lives.
Her complaint was also accompanied by a congratulatory message to Perugorría, known among his friends as Pichi, and to the film's team, whose presentation had been a reason for celebration among the participants.
The national premiere of Neurótica anónima took place on Friday, October 16, at the Yara cinema in Havana, where numerous viewers attended the presentation despite the rain.
The film, based on a play written by Mirtha Ibarra, tells the story of Iluminada, an usher who tries to prevent the demolition of the cinema where she has worked for decades.
Néstor Jiménez is part of a cast that includes Roberto Perdomo, Osvaldo and Andrea Doimeadiós, Fernando Hechavarría, Vladimir Cruz, and Tahimí Alvariño, among other figures from Cuban cinema and television.
The feature film is also Cuba's proposal in hopes of a nomination for the 2027 Goya Awards in the category of Best Ibero-American Film.
At the moment, the exact circumstances of the theft and the location where the motorcycle disappeared are unknown. It has also not been disclosed whether the actor filed a police report or if the vehicle has been recovered.
