If there’s one thing Eduardo Antonio, El Divo de Placetas, is certain about, it’s that life is too short to dress according to other people's tastes. The Cuban singer made headlines once again this weekend on the red carpet of the iHeartRadio Fiesta Latina 2026, held at the Kaseya Center in Miami, where he appeared in an extravagant black outfit that sparked a flurry of comments, memes, and comparisons on social media.
And it's true that El Divo doesn't know the meaning of the word discretion. For the occasion, he chose an all-black leather outfit, complete with a cowboy hat adorned with long fringes and a crystal cross, dark sunglasses, elbow-length gloves, a jacket with silver buttons, pants with chains, and high boots. A combination that seemed straight out of a Western movie, a haute couture show, and a Halloween party all at the same time.
The artist, originally from Placetas, Villa Clara, walked the red carpet with the confidence of someone who knows that all eyes are on him. He was even interviewed by Enrique Santos, president and creative director of iHeartLatino, who co-hosted the event with Dayanara Torres.
On his Instagram account, Eduardo Antonio shared images and videos of his appearance with messages as brief as they are impactful: "Divo" and "Red Carpet Fiesta Latina 2026." Because for him, no explanations are needed when it comes to shining like a star.
"The Black Corsair of Temu": The critics did not spare its costume
As expected, the outfit sparked a real frenzy in the comments. Some internet users wondered if El Divo had confused the date of the event with Halloween, while others got creative trying to find similarities.
"Did he come out of a comedy or a horror movie?" asked one user. "The Black Corsair from Temu," chimed in another, while someone else commented, "Was it a Halloween party or a scarecrow contest? I know, he's going to look for beehives with that hat."
The comparisons didn't stop there. "I thought he was a beekeeper or honey seller with that hat," wrote one internet user. Another claimed he looked "like a mobile shop with so many things on him," while someone else asked, "What, has he put on the shower curtain?"
There were also those who pointed out that there were still days left until Halloween. "Halloween is on the 31st," they noted. "For him, the whole year is Halloween," joked another follower.
Among so many reactions, there were those who called for an urgent change of stylist: "She needs an image consultant urgently." And another person summed up their confusion with a question: "Where does she get so many costumes from?"
But it wasn't all mockery. His most loyal followers came out to defend him and celebrated precisely that extravagance which others question.
"He is one of a kind, not everyone understands," said a fan. "Am I the only one who loves this man? Exotic, unique, his looks are anything but ordinary," wrote another. There were also those who declared, "If you don't like him, you can chew on ice."
El Divo does what he wants and lets others talk
The truth is that, at this point, Eduardo Antonio doesn’t seem to have the slightest intention of changing his style to please anyone. While some mock his outfits and others applaud them, he continues to embrace an extravagant, theatrical, and unreserved image.
His time on The House of Famous 6, where he spent 77 days before being eliminated on May 5th, reinforced his presence in the entertainment world. In August, he also celebrated the purchase of a mansion in Miami.
Now, he managed to stand out on the red carpet, and perhaps that is the best definition of El Divo: an artist who lives life on his own terms, dresses as he pleases, and seems to enjoy both the applause and the commotion he causes.
Because while social media debates whether his outfit is haute couture, carnival attire, or Halloween-inspired, Eduardo Antonio remains unfazed, true to his character and convinced that to be a true diva, the last thing one needs is to ask for permission.
