Cubans with pending nationality, passport, visa, or other Spanish consular services should take into account two scheduled closures in November, which could impact their processes and travel to Havana.

The Spanish Consulate General in Havana and the Visa Application Center for Spain in Cuba will be closed on Mondays, November 2 and 9, 2026, according to the official calendars published by both institutions.

The first closure on November 2nd corresponds to the transfer of the All Saints' celebration, which this year falls on a Sunday. The second closure on November 9th is in honor of Our Lady of Almudena, the patroness of Madrid.

These dates will mean two consecutive long weekends without consular services on Mondays, a situation that those traveling from other provinces to conduct business in the capital should keep in mind, particularly.

Which offices will be closed?

The suspension of public service will affect both the Consulate General and the new Visa Application Center, although they offer different services and are located in separate venues.

The Consulate provides services at the Palacio de Velasco, located at Zulueta #2, at the corner of Cárcel, in Old Havana, where procedures such as legalizations, marriages, and notarial actions are carried out. It also operates at the Lonja del Comercio, at Lamparilla #2, for passport and civil registry matters.

For its part, the Visa Application Center is located at Avenida 31, between 18 and 14, house 1419, in Miramar-Playa.

This latest facility began operations on October 5 and gradually took on the processing of Schengen visa applications, national visas, and applications for family members of Spanish and European citizens.

Your official holiday calendar explicitly confirms the closures on November 2nd and 9th.

What should applicants keep in mind?

Individuals with pending processes should verify the service dates and any communication related to their appointments before traveling to Havana, to avoid unnecessary trips.

Furthermore, the Visa Center only accepts applications and delivers passports and resolutions. The approval or denial of visas remains the exclusive responsibility of the Consulate General of Spain.

Despite the closures, the Consulate will keep its emergency phone line +53 5 2869122 available, operational 24 hours a day, including holidays.

This line is exclusively for serious situations that require urgent consular assistance, such as life-threatening risks, accidents, violence, or cases of abandonment. It does not address general inquiries about appointments, visas, or other routine procedures.
