The Cuban actress Katia Caso, living in Madrid, shared on her social media an experience that left her both surprised and indignant: a man called her to propose a date, but he expected her to do practically all the traveling to meet him. This situation led the artist to reflect, with a lot of humor, on the men now referred to as "princesos."
In a video shared on TikTok, the actress explained that she had been away from dating apps for two years and that she wasn't even looking for a partner when she received that unexpected call.
"I haven't logged into any app for two years, I don't have a date, I'm happy as I am," she said at the beginning of her story.
As he explained, the man assured her that he remembered her from a previous conversation on a dating app and that he had kept her phone number. After exchanging a few words, he suggested they meet in person, but the conditions of the meeting were not exactly what Katia had expected.
The plan was for her to take the subway to the Atocha station in Madrid, then a train to a nearby city where he lived, and finally, to wait for the man to pick her up in his car.
What surprised the actress the most was that, despite him taking the initiative, he expected her to bear nearly all the burden of the travel.
"We're talking about a man with financial means, a man with a car, who doesn't work, who has been the one to reach out to me; I didn't contact him or like anything, and it turns out that I have to go over there to meet a man who might not even interest me," she stated.
To make matters worse, Katia explained that at that time she had a quite complicated schedule. In the mornings, she worked until two in the afternoon and then had to attend rehearsals for a play for a festival.
"I'm really quite busy," he acknowledged, making it clear that he also did not have much free time to organize such a trip.
However, what completely stirred her confusion was that the man didn't even consider the possibility of finding a place that would be comfortable for both of them.
"He didn't even look for a middle ground to get to know us. No, my love, it really is exhausting," she commented.
Amid laughter and disbelief, the actress turned to a phrase that has gained popularity on social media to ironically refer to certain men who expect women to take all the initiative and effort in romantic relationships.
"Oh dear, he's the last of the Mohicans, truly. Now they’re called the princes," Katia exclaimed, clearly amused by how absurd the situation seemed to her.
The artist also mentioned that the man seemed quite a bit older than her, although she clarified that the age difference posed no problem. What really bothered her was his unwillingness to arrange a first meeting.
This is not the first time that Katia Caso shares reflections on everyday situations and social relationships. In August 2025, the actress spoke about the social pressure women face to maintain a youthful appearance, a topic that also sparked conversation among her followers.
The differences in expectations in romantic relationships have also been addressed by other Cubans residing in Spain. A young Cuban woman living in Barcelona compared her experiences with Cuban and Spanish boyfriends on social media, sharing her unique perspective on the differences between the two.
In Katia's case, the proposal did not turn into a date. And, as she mentioned in her video, the actress is quite clear that if someone wants to get to know her, the least she expects is a bit of initiative and consideration from both sides.
