The average price of regular gasoline in Florida dropped this Monday to $3.85 per gallon, about 23 cents lower than a week ago, according to data published by the American Automobile Association (AAA).
The reduction represents relief for drivers in the state, who at the end of October were paying more than four dollars per gallon. Compared to a month ago, when the average reached $4.15, the decrease is around 29 cents.
The decline occurs after gasoline in Florida surpassed four dollars per gallon again in mid-October.
Why is gasoline getting cheaper?
The decrease coincides with lower fuel demand in the United States and an increase in national gasoline reserves.
According to data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), U.S. gasoline inventories rose from 205.3 million to 209.2 million barrels during the week ending October 23.
During that same period, the volume of gasoline supplied to the market, used as an indicator of demand, decreased from approximately 8.98 million to 8.36 million barrels per day.
The lower seasonal demand and the transition to the fuel blends used during winter may also promote a reduction in prices, although these remain subject to fluctuations in the international oil market.
Where is the cheapest gasoline in Florida?
Prices vary significantly across different regions of the state. According to the metropolitan averages from AAA for this Monday, Pensacola records one of the lowest values at $3.64 per gallon.
Other areas in northern Florida also have prices below the state average, such as Panama City, with approximately $3.65, and Crestview-Fort Walton Beach, at $3.68.
On the opposite end, Monroe County, where the Florida Keys are located, reports an average close to $4.13 per gallon. West Palm Beach-Boca Raton is around $4.02, while Gainesville reaches $4.00.
In South Florida, prices in Miami and Fort Lauderdale hover around $3.95 per gallon, although they may vary between gas stations.
In other major cities in the state, the averages are approximately $3.79 in Tampa-St. Petersburg, $3.84 in Orlando, and $3.87 in Jacksonville.
Florida maintains prices below the national average
The national average for regular gasoline was reported this Monday at $4.17 per gallon, compared to $3.85 in Florida, according to AAA. The difference, calculated using the original unrounded figures, is about 31 cents per gallon.
However, despite the recent reduction, filling the tank is still significantly more expensive than it was a year ago.
On November 2, 2025, the average price of regular gas in Florida was approximately $2.97 per gallon. This means that drivers are currently paying about 89 cents more per gallon, a year-over-year increase of nearly 30%.
Will the price of gasoline continue to drop?
The evolution of prices in the coming weeks will depend on factors such as fuel demand, refinery production, available reserves, and international oil quotations.
Although the recent decrease benefits motorists, it does not guarantee that prices will continue to fall. Supply disruptions or sudden changes in the oil market could lead to new increases.
