A significant police operation was carried out this Monday in the Viviendas Campesinas neighborhood of Bayamo, in the province of Granma, as part of the search for Amanda Pérez, an 18-year-old woman whose disappearance has been characterized as a presumed kidnapping by independent profiles on social media.
According to the platform Nio Reporting a Crime on Facebook, the operation took place around 1:50 PM and involved agents from the National Revolutionary Police (PNR), special forces commonly known as the Black Berets, and high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Interior, among them allegedly a lieutenant colonel.
The same source maintains that during searches at a home in the neighborhood, items allegedly belonging to the young woman were found: a bicycle, a helmet, and some glasses. "In that location, some belongings of Amanda have been seized, allegedly a helmet, clothing, and they even mentioned the scooter, but it's not been confirmed," Nio clarified in one of his videos.
It is also reported that two individuals linked to the investigation were allegedly detained. The platform itself explicitly acknowledged: "So far, we do not have official confirmation regarding the results of the investigations or the criminal liability of the detained individuals."
An unofficial profile of State Security also reported on the operation. “Experts and investigators are conducting searches in the Viviendas Campesinas neighborhood in Bayamo to find the whereabouts of the missing young woman. I am receiving images of the actions being carried out by the police forces in an effort to locate the 18-year-old young woman, Amanda Pérez, who resides in the Viviendas Campesinas neighborhood in Bayamo,” stated Entérate con Aytana Alama
"Local residents tell me that in the very location where this distressing absence began, experts and investigators are meticulously examining the areas near his home through records and inspections of suspicious individuals," added the cited source, without mentioning it was a kidnapping.
According to Nio, Amanda went missing on Thursday, October 30. Her alleged captors demanded $2,000 from the family as a ransom and initially communicated through the young woman's phone with calls that lasted only a few seconds. "They even made a video call so they could confirm that she was alive," the source reported. The family has expressed a willingness to pay the ransom and has requested proof of life, but has not received any recent response, it was noted.
Amanda Pérez has remained missing until the closure of this news report. No official media has covered this case.
So far in 2026, several disappearances have occurred in Bayamo. In July, two missing children from Mabay were found safe and sound after an operation with the Special Brigade of MININT, and in April a minor reported missing was found deceased in the same city.
