The Cuban influencer Yeison López surprised a farmer with a very special gift: a horse. The gesture was captured in a video posted on Instagram that has garnered over 11,000 reactions in just a few hours.
The man, aged 80, is named José and recently some thieves stole his pair of oxen, which he described as his "jewel" and was both his working tool and means of transportation in the Cuban countryside.
This story began a few days earlier, when Yeison presented the case of the elderly man in another post. José told him how the thieves broke the two locks of the pen where he kept his animals and took them away.
Yeison then emphasized the seriousness of the theft: "We are not talking about luxury; we are talking about their means of transportation and what they had to make a living."
The content creator does not accept direct donations from their followers. Their support model relies on the revenue generated from the views of their videos on Facebook, the only platform that monetizes.
He estimated that with five million views on the first video, he would have enough money to buy a mare for the old man, and he asked his community to watch, comment, and share the reel.
In less than 72 hours, without having yet received all the expected income from the views, he decided to buy a horse in a nearby town, and having the animal, he went straight to the old man's house to surprise him with it.
"To the one whose yoke was stolen, I want that little horse to gift it to him," explained the owner of the animal for sale. And at the moment of delivery, he added: "If we don't help each other... who will help us?"
The case of José reflects a crisis that is striking hard at the Cuban countryside. The theft of oxen and horses has intensified in Cuba. According to official data, Cuba lost more than 900,000 heads of cattle between 2019 and 2024, a decrease attributed to various causes, including theft and mortality.
Yeison López, around 25 years old, emigrated from Cuba at 15 and returned to live on the island in 2026. In his videos, he documents the precarious conditions of workers and rural families, mainly in the province of Artemisa. However, he also shares charming experiences and the beauty of the humble people living in his region.
"My dream since I started this project is to create a community so large that it reaches so many people that just through views we can travel the world changing lives," said the influencer.
