The Cuban influencer Kevusho left his followers speechless by posting a reel on Instagram in which he performs a cover of "Como quien pierde una estrella," the emotional song made famous by Mexican singer Alejandro Fernández.
The video, published with no more description than the hashtag "#cover," sparked a flood of comments in which fans expressed astonishment, excitement, and overwhelming enthusiasm for a side of the content creator that very few had known.
Kevin Martínez —the real name of the influencer based in New York— sang the verses of the song with a voice that no one expected: «I love you, I say it like a lament, like a moan that the wind carries wherever it wants / I love you, what a pity to have lost you, like one who loses a star».
The reaction from her community was immediate and forceful. A follower summed up the general sentiment with a phrase that sparked laughter: "Oh, my dear, this little doll is a Pandora's box of so much talent, coming from the land of palms and sugarcane to the world."
Others quickly jumped in with lofty comparisons. "Christian Nodal is in trouble, he's got competition," wrote one fan, while another went even further: "Look, if you got rich on social media, go to America's Got Talent, and you're going to win. What an incredible voice you have!"
Several followers confessed to doubting that the voice was real. "At first, I thought you were lip-syncing, then I was left like this," admitted one of them. Another added, "María Julia, I didn't know you sang like that. What a voice! Golden pass."
Humor was also present among the compliments. “Excuse me? Kid, handbags, jewelry, luxury, millions, and also a great voice. Leave something for the mortals!” wrote one commenter, while another added, “You’re Cuban, a millionaire, you’re handsome, you sing amazingly. Definitely, God has his favorites.”
The nickname "María Julia" —with which Kevusho usually addresses his audience— was adopted by his followers to refer to him in the comments, as part of the role-playing that is a signature aspect of the influencer.
This is not Kevusho's first foray into music. Last August, the Cuban rewrote "La Catalina" to express the pain of exile, a video that surpassed one million views. He had to take five takes to record it because the emotion made him cry.
Kevusho has over 252,000 followers on Instagram and has established himself as one of the most popular Cuban influencers on the platform, known primarily for his luxury brand content—such as Hermès and Dior—and for his reflections on the experience of Cuban emigration. In October, he spent nearly $20,000 on a Hermès handbag in New York, a video that also generated significant buzz among his followers.
