At 10:00 a.m., local time in Havana, begins operations this Friday, November 6, 2026, with the U.S. dollar on the rise and the euro stable around 1,000 pesos.
The MLC, with limited data available during this time slot, provides only indicative value. The start confirms the ongoing pressure on the Cuban peso, which finds no relief in the parallel market.
The U.S. dollar is trading at 928 Cuban pesos (CUP) in the informal market, with a buying rate of 925 CUP and a selling rate of 930 CUP. This represents an increase of 8 pesos compared to the previous day, when the average value was at 920 CUP.
The upward trend is also evident on the weekly and monthly horizon: seven days ago, the dollar was trading at 873 CUP, which represents an increase of 55 pesos in a week, equivalent to 6.3%. Thirty days ago, the exchange rate was 768 CUP, although this month-to-month comparison should be taken with caution, as it may partly reflect adjustments in the methodology of the index.
In the last 30 days, the dollar has reached a maximum of 928 CUP —the current level— and a minimum of 768 CUP. The demand for dollars remains high among those looking to protect their savings against the depreciation of the peso.
Exchange Rate Evolution
The euro opens the day stable, with an average value of 1,000 Cuban pesos (CUP), buying at 1,000 CUP and selling at 999 CUP. It remains unchanged compared to the previous day.
However, the weekly perspective reveals a notable rise: seven days ago, the euro was trading at 950 CUP, which indicates a gain of almost 50 pesos in one week, or 5.2% more.
In the last month, the euro has increased from 863 CUP to the current 1,000, with a high of 1,001 CUP and a low of 860 CUP during that period. It is established as the most expensive currency in the Cuban parallel market, exceeding the dollar by 72 pesos in its average value.
The MLC, exclusively digital currency, is valued at approximately 652 Cuban pesos (CUP) according to the available data in this opening, with a purchase price of 608 CUP and a selling price of 699 CUP. However, this value should be considered as a guideline: the source cautions that there is limited data during this time period.
Regarding the previous day, the MLC has fallen by 33 pesos, down from 685 CUP yesterday. However, in the weekly comparison, it shows an increase of 45 CUP compared to the 607 CUP from seven days ago. Without physical availability, its use is limited to the state-run businesses that accept it, which restricts its circulation compared to cash foreign currencies.
- Exchange rate of the dollar USD to CUP: 928 CUP.
- Exchange rate of the euro EUR to CUP: 1.000 CUP.
- Exchange rate from MLC to CUP: 652 CUP (indicative value, limited data).
The official exchange rate of the Central Bank of Cuba (Segment III) is 793 CUP per dollar and 890 CUP per euro, which remains well below the values that prevail in daily practice in the informal currency market. The gap between the official dollar rate and the informal one exceeds 135 pesos; in the case of the euro, the difference approaches 110 pesos.
Although Segment III was introduced as a more flexible exchange mechanism, its official rate remains far from that of the informal market and fails to meet the real demand for foreign currency among the population. The official dollar rate has risen from 695 CUP on October 7 to the current 793 CUP, which indicates a sustained devaluation of the peso even in the official channel, although at a pace that does not accurately reflect the reality of the parallel market.
In a scenario of sustained inflation, low state wages, and increasing partial dollarization of the economy, every fluctuation in the informal market directly affects internal prices and the purchasing power of Cubans.
The gap between the official and unofficial exchange rates reflects the persistent shortage of foreign currency in the state banking system and the high demand for dollars and euros among the population, whether for emigration, importing goods, protecting savings, or making purchases in the private sector.
The CiberCuba Exchange Rate is an index of the informal Cuban market, created through the automated analysis of thousands of currency buying and selling posts in Telegram and Facebook groups. The calculation disregards atypical offers and spam messages, weighs each transaction based on its age, and consolidates a representative value that is updated several times a day.
