The Cuban reggaeton artist Dany Ome experienced a very special night as he received an award at the Icon Awards Miami 2026, held this Thursday in Miami. The artist took the stage without his partner Kevincito El 13, who is still recovering from a complicated leg surgery, but made it clear that the award also belonged to him.
Visibly excited, the singer, whose real name is Daniel Muro Pedraza, took the opportunity during his speech to dedicate the award to his family, to all Cubans, to his peers in the urban genre, and to the reggaeton artist Chocolate MC, whom he also wanted to acknowledge during this important moment in his career.
Dany Ome took a moment to express special words for his mother, for Kevincito El 13's mother, for his deceased nephews, and for his brother, as well as to acknowledge those who have contributed to the growth of the Cuban community.
"Long live the ensemble!" he exclaimed during his speech, celebrating that this musical genre born in Cuba is increasingly present on international stages.
After the ceremony, the performer shared an emotional message on Instagram, making it clear that the recognition went far beyond his personal success.
"This award is not just for Dany Ome and Kevincito El 13, this award is for all Cubans who have believed in our music, who have defended our culture, and who have taken our message to every corner of the world," he wrote.
One of the most poignant moments was his dedication to Kevincito El 13, with whom he has spent nearly five years sharing stages, successes, and sacrifices. Although he couldn't be there in person, Dany Ome wanted him to feel that he was also a part of that celebration.
"You were absent physically, but not in my heart. Almost five years of sacrifice from us," she expressed in her post.
The absence of Kevincito El 13 is due to the health issues he is facing after a surgical procedure that encountered complications. At the end of October, both artists shared a video from a hospital in the United States to explain what had happened to their followers and to dispel rumors about a possible separation of the duo.
The ceremony also provided another special moment for Dany Ome when Eduardo Antonio, known as El Divo de Placetas, surprised him with words of admiration and publicly expressed his desire to record a song together.
The recognition comes in an important year for the careers of Dany Ome and Kevincito El 13, who have expanded their international presence through collaborations with artists such as Ozuna, Wisin, Nyno Vargas, and Omar Montes.
"Behind this recognition are years of sacrifice, hard work, sleepless nights, criticism, obstacles, and a great deal of faith in what we do," Dany Ome affirmed as he reflected on the journey taken to reach this moment.
The duo has a performance scheduled for November 8 at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida, although Kevincito El 13's recovery raises uncertainty about his participation.
For Dany Ome, the night held a special meaning that he wanted to encapsulate in words filled with pride for his roots and the genre he represents: "This award has a name: CUBA. This award has a genre: REPARTO. And this award has a representation: DANY OME & KEVINCITO EL 13."
