The life of Andy Prada Ortega, a young man from Santiago, is marked by the seven occasions in which he has tried to escape from Cuba, according to reports Cubanet.

"The main reason why I tried to emigrate was for political reasons. They closed my employment contract because I said that I was no longer going to pay the fee to the Central Workers of Cuba (CTC). It is a body that should respond to the interests of the workers, but it responds to the interests of the State," he assured.

This 25-year-old Cuban confessed that it was worth risking his life in the middle of the sea rather than continuing in the largest of the Antilles.

"I could stay in the middle of the sea and be one more because the Florida Strait is like death row. I knew I ran that risk but I wanted to look for a better future, freedom," he said.

His first attempt to reach the United States occurred on April 28, 2012 with the help of a precarious raft with which he spent up to 17 hours at sea. "The coast guard caught us and we were deported to Cuba," he said.

Elimination of politics Dry feet-wet feet has led Cuban migrants to choose new routes to try to reach the United States. However, this young man warns that the decision that Obama made has not changed the current scenario.

"Immigration continues and Cubans continue to risk arriving illegally in the United States to undergo a trial, even being deported," he acknowledged.

For Andy, continuing in his own land without wanting to flee requires that the Cuban Government respect immigration rights. "The migratory cause of Cubans is not because of the Adjustment Law, but because in Cuba there is misery, hunger and need," he concluded.
