Prospect Vladimir Gutiérrez will pitch with the Tigres del Licey, a historic Dominican winter baseball team, as sources confirmed to CiberCuba.
Gutiérrez, 23, is one of the future talents of the Cincinnati Reds. It will be his debut in the Winter Leagues as he wants to maintain his form to enter the next campaign with the greatest possible strength.
The agreement with Licey is based on five starts, franchises almost always limit their prospects in this type of tournaments, and also the right-hander will not be able to exceed 75 pitches in each start.
Despite a slow start in Triple-A, the Cuban recovered at the end of the season, but was ultimately not promoted to the Majors.
Gutiérrez finished with a 6-11 record, 6.04 ERA, 117 strikeouts in 137 innings, and opponents hit .266 against him.
