Government of Cuba reports 17 new cases of coronavirus, the total rises to 1,783

He Cuban Government reported this Monday that 17 new cases of coronavirus in the country, bringing the total to 1,783.

He national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Francisco Durán García, He said that there are currently 1,553 admitted to hospitals, of which 31 remain under surveillance, 1,047 are suspects and 475 are confirmed. Another 3,900 people are monitored in their homes by Primary Health Care services.

All of the new cases were Cuban. Of them, 16 (94.1%) were contacts of confirmed cases and in one (5.8%) the source of infection was not specified. There are ten men and seven women.

Fifteen of the cases were asymptomatic and by age groups, the most affected are between 40 and 59 years old, with seven cases. Six infected people were also detected, whose ages range between 20 and 39 years.

All of the new cases were Cuban. Of them, ten are men and seven are women. Since the health crisis began, a total of 918 men, 51.4 percent, have been diagnosed, compared to 865 women (48.5%).

Camagüey leads the list of new infections

The province of Camagüey was the one with the most cases with a total of seven, which represents 41.1 percent. Six are residents of the Camagüey municipality and one is from the Florida municipality.

In Havana, six cases were detected, two in the Cotorro municipality, two in Regla and one in the municipalities of Arroyo Naranjo and Habana Vieja.

In the province of Matanzas there were three new cases, two in the municipality of the same name and one in the Limonar municipality.

Another case was detected in Villa Clara, which was identified as a citizen of the Santa Clara municipality.

Of the 1,783 patients diagnosed with the disease, 475 remain confirmed hospitalized and of them 468 (98.5%) have a stable clinical evolution. There is one patient who is in critical condition and six were reported as serious.

Of the serious patients, four are from the province of Villa Clara. Two are at the Manuel Fajardo Hospital and two at the Celestino Hernández. Another is admitted to the Salvador Allende in Havana, while the one from Holguín is in the Fermín Valdés Domínguez hospital.
