196 houses isolated in Placetas due to increase in coronavirus cases

The Villa Clara municipality ofPleasure It currently has 11 confirmed cases of coronavirus, which forced it to quarantine and isolate a sector of it.

Two infected people were reported in the daily report on Sunday where it was specified that one of the cases was imported and another, a 16-year-old adolescent who had had contact with a case; a third was confirmed this Monday in the daily report.

Currently in the municipality, more than 825 vulnerable patients with different pathologies, 14 pregnant women, 23 lactating women and more than 600 people over 60 years of age, are in the quarantine area and dispersedly isolated.

Two other outbreaks are also being controlled, totaling around 196 isolated homes, with a total of 21 suspected cases and around 2,000 related contacts.

According to the authorities cited by the official newspaperWorkers, the epidemiological situation has been further complicated by the arrival of 166 visitors to the municipality from abroad.

The first secretary of the Communist Party in Villa Clara, Yudi Rodríguez Hernández, insisted on “the discipline of travelers, compliance with sanitary measures, the use of face masks and the disinfection of surfaces and hands” and also attributed the increase in cases to the responsibility of citizens and workplaces in preventing the pandemic.

According to the official media, measures have been carried out by the authorities to guarantee the isolated population access to the supply of water, medicines and food.

“There is a guarantee of water for each place, as well as banking and postal services. Alternatives are being sought for the supply of different food options, including delivery of bread, meat, food, dairy products, and also hygiene products," he cited.Workers, who also elaborated that the distribution of medicines to those who need it remains assured and that the active investigation process will not stop.

In the last week, Cuba saw an increase in positive cases of COVID-19, with high points on Monday and Tuesday,when 124 cases were reported. In this way, in the last 7 days, a total of 565 positive cases have been reported on the Island, of which 119 have been related to a source of infection abroad.

On this Sunday, the Cuban Ministry of Public Healthreported 69 new infections. Until the last report, Cuba reported a total of 9,423 positive cases of the disease, with 8,434 recovered, while the number of deaths remained at 137.
