Recipe for okra with meat, according to Cuban chef Dailis Ferrer

On Instagram, where the young Guantamera woman has more than 100 thousand followers, she specified everything necessary to prepare the delicious dish: fresh okra, pork, plantain, lemons, garlic, onion, chili pepper, as well as various spices.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg of fresh okra
  • 2 lemons
  • 2 cups vegetable or chicken broth
  • 500g pork
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 onion
  • 1/2 pepper
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup dry wine or white wine
  • 1 plantain
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lard

Instructions for making okra with pork

  • Cut the plantain into thick slices as if you were going to prepare tostones. Also cut the okra into slices and the meat into cubes or medium pieces.
  • Brown the banana a little in the hot fat in a large skillet or pot and then set aside.
  • Add the meat to brown it as well over medium heat. Add salt and pepper.
  • Remove the meat and set aside, in that same fat sauté the okra until you notice it lightly golden.
  • Add the lemon, chopped onion and pepper, crushed garlic, oregano, cumin, pepper and salt to taste. Cook for 1 or 2 more minutes.
  • Add the tomato sauce, wine, broth and plantain.
  • Wait for it to come to a boil, then place the lid on, lower the heat and cook over low heat for 35-40 minutes until the meat is tender and the okra is cooked through.
