“Strong police presence since this morning in Jagüey Grande. Registration in all premises leased by the THT (Tres Hermanos Tabares). The Havana operations unit, known as 100 and Aldabó, and also the Matanzas headquarters are present,” a user in the group reported last Thursday.Facebook 'I love Jagüey'.

The operation also focused on another Mipyme from Jagüey, 'Rápido y Rico', a bar-restaurant in the town, apparently recently opened, where you could enjoy a varied range of leisure and gastronomy.
According to the report insocial networks, “the reasons for such an operation” were unknown to the neighbors, many of whom expressed their astonishment and disagreement in the Facebook group, indicating that it was one of the few places in the municipality where you could go to eat or drink, despite of its high prices.
The day after the first information, in the aforementionedgroup Images were shared that showed that the police operation was continuing, with the apparent seizure of merchandise on the premises. “This stings and spreads (seizure),” reported user Suney San Román, administrator of ‘Yo amo Jagüey’.
A photograph shared in the group showed a truck parked on 56th Street in the municipality at 8:30 at night, in what appeared to be an operation to collect confiscated merchandise.
“The police operation continues this Friday in Jagüey Grande. Now they are taking everything from the new 'Fast and Rich'. “Seized and closed for the moment, we continue with more questions than answers,”reported San Román on Friday, April 12.
The publications draw attention to the strong police presence in the town. “More images of Calle 56, between 15 and 17, this morning of April 11 in Jagüey Grande,” indicated San Román in anotherpublication with photographs of several vehicles (patrol cars, truck and black Toyota pick-up) in the area.
“And now what is going to happen to the town, if most of the food came from THT?” a user asked in one of the comments to the publications.
“I don't know what happened but they really should explain to the people what happened there, because in those places most of the people bought and they had many offers,” said another Internet user.
The unknowns surround this matter, about which neither the authorities of Jagüey Grande nor theofficial press They have offered no information.
Agitation and rumors among the people of Jagüey
According to a publication from the independent mediaThe Watcher of Cuba, among the population it is suspected that the police operation is related to alleged matters ofdrug trafficking and child prostitution.
“This Friday, Jaguey Grande experienced another day of tensions, with the presence of anti-drug commandos from Havana at the Tres Hermanos Tabares Mipyme (THT) and the Rápido y Rico bar-restaurant,” indicated the aforementioned media, highlighting the large number of MININT agents in the town.
Despite their discretion, rumors spread in the town that “the police who arrived from Havana were after drugs and a possible link between the place and child prostitution, but until now there is absolute certainty only with the case of the narcotics, although it is not known if it is the kind that is consumed by young people in every municipality in the country, the one they call 'The Chemical', or some real hard drug, imported from another place in America."
Likewise, according to this medium, the owner of Rápido y Rico, known as “Daddy from Torriente” is an individual whom the authorities had “between eyebrows for these reasons.”
“In Rápido and Rico there were also patrols, anti-drugs dressed in civilian clothes and, according to the neighbors and the municipal government personnel, who observed the operation from their workplace, they are going to confiscate cars and houses from this Papito, of which he has many, due to their links with drugs and child prostitution," he noted. The Watcher of Cuba.
According to what was published by said media, this person would have links with other businessmen from Cienfuegos, a city where a police operation with similar characteristics was also being carried out.
Likewise, the independent media echoed the rumors that point to an alleged connection between the owner of Rápido y Rico and “the bodyguard grandson ofRaul Castro, calledRaúl Guillermo Rodríguez Castro, but better known as "El Cangrejo", another member of the Castro clan known for hiseccentricities anddisplays of their high standard of living.
In the same area of speculation, other residents of the town told said media that the Mipyme THT “fell into disgrace, either due to child prostitution, drugs, or due to some link with the payment to those who burned down for for the second time in a few months, the Pío Cua parador, on the road from Jaguey to Playa Girón, whose author is already arrested.”
“All these events may be related to the visit to the municipality ofMiguel Diaz-Canel, which according to this newspaper's sources, will be on April 18, and which will include the Ciénaga de Zapata, with a tribute toFidel Castro in Playa Girón,” he concluded. The Watcher of Cuba.
Jagüey Grande, a turbulent municipality
In February 2023, the Cuban-AmericanRobert Medina, founder of the Mipyme RENOVA S.U.R.L. in Camagüey,was found dead in Jagüey Grande, apparently the victim of a murder.
The company he ran, in charge of the sale of technological equipment, reported in a Facebook statement that “it was in mourning” because “some claimed the right to start a life that did so much good.”
The post indicated that the man had been kidnapped days ago, so “they had been very hard days for everyone.”
“The family and the RENOVA work group express the absolute will to continue his legacy more united, with the experience he leaves us (...) and although the person who gave him the first energy is no longer physically present, the team will not abandon the purpose of becoming a national leader,” they expressed.
The alleged murderers of Medina were arrested within hours, as confirmed toCyberCubaa friend close to the victim who explained that those arrested were two men who tried to rob him when he was heading towards Havana from the Jovellanos municipality in the province of Matanzas.
Recently, three people were arrestedaccused of having caused a new fire in the Pío Cua restaurant in Jagüey Grande.
The fire, which allegedly occurred in the early hours of April 3, left the gastronomic and leisure complex managed by the Cubanacán hotel group and belonging to theGrupo de Administración Empresarial S.A. (GAESA), property of the military leadership of the Cuban regime.
Neither the local authorities nor the official press reported on the event, following the same communication policy as in the case of the businessmen now detained: hiding from public opinion what is happening in Jagüey Grande, a municipality with significant investments in the conversion of state companies into MSMEs.
With more than 60,000 inhabitants, Jagüey Grande is one of the most dynamic municipalities in the creation of MSMEs in Cuba, of which about 60 appear registered on the sitemipymescuba.top.
Much of the productive and commercial activity of this municipality revolves around theVictoria de Giró Agroindustrial Companyn, considered the largest citrus producer in Cuba, with an area of 500 km2 and a network of non-state actors thatattract investments, financing and foreign cooperation to enhance the "productive chains" that the Díaz-Canel government celebrates so much.
