A severe local storm caused damage in Manzanillo as a result of the feeder bands of Hurricane Beryl.
In the territories located south of Granma, moderate rainfall and strong swells were also reported, with no victims or injuries reported.
Recovery efforts are now focused on repairing the damages to the electrical and telephone services, affected by strong winds and fallen trees.
In the municipalities of Niquero, Pilón, Media Luna, Campechuela, and Bartolomé Masó, residents from low-lying areas were evacuated.
On Wednesday, the first power outages were reported in the eastern province due to the proximity of Hurricane Beryl.
Photos shared by the CMKX Radio Bayamo station showed a fallen pole in front of some houses, several power lines dangling, and numerous branches on the ground.
"During the passage of natural phenomena such as Hurricane Beryl, parts of the electrical grids are always affected because - mostly consisting of overhead lines - they sustain damage from strong winds and intense rain," the electric company recalled.
In Cabo Cruz, located in the municipality of Niquero in Granma, waves of 1.5 to 2 meters high and winds of 40 kilometers per hour sustained with gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour were recorded.
Hurricane Beryl left at least 10 dead in the Caribbean region after passing through Jamaica on Wednesday, where more than 400,000 residents are without electricity and there are also millions of euros worth of damage to infrastructure.
The victims are reported in Jamaica (1), Grenada (3), Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (3), and Venezuela (3), where there are also five missing persons.
It is expected that the phenomenon will enter on Thursday night or Friday morning through the Yucatan Peninsula, a very touristic area of Mexico.
