A Cuban mother is asking for the collaboration of her fellow countrymen to help a child who suffers from lupus, a chronic illness, and whose family is also not in a good economic situation.

Taili Pérez, who resides in Havana, shared on her Facebook the case of the little boy, who studies at the same school as her son.

"My son always talks to me about him and says, 'Oh, mom, he needs help.' Yesterday I saw him passing by with his grandmother and I called him to give him some from my son. The boy has lupus, lives in Compostela 820, between Conde and Paula," she detailed.

According to Taili, the child's name is Danni and the mother is Anay, who also has health problems.

The phone number for their home is 78625072, for anyone who wants to help this family.

"I am available for any clothes they can give him or any help, it will be good for him because he really needs it, please," added the woman.

Several people suggested that he contact the comedian Limay Blanco and the activist Lara Crofs to bring attention to the case.

The current crisis affecting the country has plunged thousands of families into poverty, but the situation is even worse for those who have a sick family member.

Systemic lupus erythematosus is a disease that can affect the skin, joints, kidneys, brain, and other organs, as the body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissue.

In July 2020, a young woman reported that her mother, who suffers from chronic lupus erythematosus, was experiencing a severe crisis of her illness due to the shortage of medicines in pharmacies.

"I am not seeking sympathy or asking for charity, I know how to solve my problems well, but I have no choice," explained Lianny Enríquez.

The woman indicated that lupus was affecting her mother's blood cells and nervous system, who also suffered from asymptomatic hypertension. The lady needed prednisone and triamcinolone cream, as well as vitamins, and "all of this has been out of stock for a while," her daughter said.

A year before, the case of Yasnay Sanz Consuegra, a 16-year-old who suffers from lupus, was brought to light. She is affected in the kidneys, eyes, and stomach, experiencing nasal, oral, and vaginal bleeding.

Despite the doctors' recommendation to avoid contact with insect bites, animals, dust, and humidity, the young woman lives in extremely precarious conditions in the former Jorge Prieto central, a rural area known as Cecilia, in Guantánamo.

Without a bathroom or kitchen, and with a dirt floor, this person survives in their home, despite their mother's requests for them to be assigned at least a plot of land in the city, under medical recommendation.
