The collision between a motorcycle and an electric tricycle resulted in two people injured in the city of Holguín this Saturday.
According to a post in the Facebook group "Accidente Buses & Camiones por más experiencia y menos víctimas!", the accident occurred on the Camino Militar road when the driver of the tricycle, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, crossed into the opposite lane, causing a collision with the motorcycle.
"Right now in Holguín, Camino Militar, the person responsible for the tricycle invaded the opposite lane, was under the influence of alcohol, and so far only the drivers are injured," reported the user Alejandro Aballe.
In the comments, one person said that the motorcycle driver had gone out to look for sancocho for his pigs when he was hit by the tricycle. His niece confirmed that he is doing well. The health status of the tricycle driver is unknown.
Due to the collision, the motorcycle suffered severe damage, as seen in the published photos.
Several people referred to the irresponsibility of the tricycle drivers and other electric vehicle operators across the country, who drive without a license, do not wear helmets, and do not respect the right of way, invading the opposing lane.
"Tricycles in Holguín think they own the road, they don't stick to the right, and when you honk your horn at them, they look at you with a bad expression as if they were tough," claimed an internet user.
While many strongly criticized the tricycle driver involved in this accident for driving drunk. "It is unacceptable for someone who is driving any type of vehicle to be consuming alcoholic beverages. It is reckless, unacceptable, irresponsible, and foolhardy; they should end up in jail, without a license and without a vehicle. As has been expressed before, law enforcement agents are missing," said a user.
Several comments specifically criticized the absence of traffic police to control violations on the road, as well as their lack of action when it comes to motorcycles and tricycles.
