Limay Blanco outraged after a friend was robbed: “They took his cellphone on the bus.”

Addressing the thief and all delinquents in general, Limay reminded them that "one day we will all have to answer for our actions," and that "there is a place of torment called hell" where the wicked will end up.

Once again, the comedian Limay Blanco raised his voice to denounce the increase in theft and crime in Cuba, this time due to the theft of a mobile phone that happened to a friend of his.

"This friend had his cell phone taken on the bus. They cut his backpack with a knife; he lost all his photos, contacts, and memory videos," Blanco said on his social media, sharing an image of the cut made in the victim's backpack.

The wave of crime affecting the capital has public transportation users as one of its main victims. Reports of an increase in cellphone thefts on buses are common on Cuban social media.

Thieves take advantage of passenger congestion on urban buses, as well as users' discomfort due to long wait times, to devise ways to rob them of their belongings while they travel on these means of transportation.

"Be careful, wear your backpacks in front of you on the buses. And to you, brother thief, make amends with God," wrote the comedian, who converted to Christianity in 2019 and has since led the ministry "Christ saves lives," with which he has helped hundreds of people across the country.

Addressing the thief and all lovers of what is someone else's, Blanco reminded them that "one day we will all be held accountable for our actions," and that "there is a place of torment called hell" where the wicked will end up.

"You still have time to regret it because, when it comes to you, it will come. Today perhaps my words make you laugh, but be careful, tomorrow they might make you sad in a place where we will be judged by our actions," he stated with a grave tone.

With a strong presence on social media, Limay Blanco himself has published alerts and reports on incidents of this kind on several occasions.

In mid-January, he broadcasted live a suspicious meeting he had in the early morning while driving his car towards Alamar, in the municipality of Habana del Este, accompanied by his wife.

The comedian was calmly driving in his vehicle listening to music when he saw a man lying by the roadside raising his hand as if to ask for help. "You’ve seen him, he’s lying there with a briefcase next to him," Limay said while attending to his wife’s plea not to stop the vehicle.

"God forgive me if I did wrong, but I was afraid to stop. On the way to Alamar around 1 in the morning, while I was live streaming, this man was on the side of the street. The police were notified, but I didn't stop because you know how things are and I was scared," Limay wrote in a later post.

After being robbed for the third time in his home in mid-July 2023, Limay identified the thief, a neighbor from his neighborhood whom he forgave and helped financially, driven by his faith in God and in human redemption.

The increase in cell phone thefts in Cuba prompted the comedian to explain on his social media what he considered a measure to put an end to that crime.

"For the crime of robbery with force, intimidation of individuals, and threats for snatching a cellphone...30 years of deprivation of liberty, when you make that video, believe me, no one will snatch a cellphone again," he said.

In September 2022, the Cuban announcer Marta Yabor Ballbé fell victim to the theft of her mobile phone on a bus, using the same modus operandi as the one employed by the thief who robbed Limay's friend.
