The album Celia Cruz En Vivo: 100 Años de Azúcar won the Latin Grammy this Thursday for Best Recording Package.
The album, produced by Loud And Live Studios and curated by Nelson Albareda, Omer Pardillo-Cid, and Albertico Rodríguez, features nine never-before-released tracks by La Reina de la Salsa.
“It’s a moment of true pride for Latin music, culture, and all those who worked to spread it around the world, just as Celia did. We feel honored and grateful to receive this Latin Grammy for Celia Cruz En Vivo: 100 Years of Sugar - Best Package Design. It’s no secret that Celia was a pioneer and visionary whose contributions remain relevant to this day, and this award is a true testament to that,” said Nelson Albareda on Instagram, who was present at the awards ceremony.
Omer Pardillo-Cid, the universal executor of the singer's estate, expressed his gratitude to Celia for entrusting him with her career and legacy upon receiving the award: "Long live Latin music! I also dedicate this award to all the Cuban exiles around the world."
"Celia's contributions to our culture are countless, and we are honored to have the opportunity to bring her resilience and legacy to life through this project," reads a post on the official Instagram of the Cuban artist.
Celia Cruz Live: 100 Years of Sugar is a commemorative compilation dedicated to the centennial of La Guarachera de Cuba.
In this section, the Latin Recording Academy decided on a tie, as it also awarded the prize to the album Karma by Carlos Ortíz.
