A tragic accident that occurred this Monday on the Turnpike in northwest Miami-Dade resulted in the death of a woman following a collision between two trucks and a private vehicle.
Authorities confirmed that the incident occurred just before the intersection of I-95 and the Palmetto Expressway, a high-traffic area in South Florida.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident began when one of the trucks collided with a Nissan vehicle that veered off the road and came to a stop in a grassy area alongside the highway, as reported by the news site Only in Dade.
Immediately afterward, another truck was involved in the collision. According to a report from Univisión, another person had to be transported to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
The deceased victim, a woman who was traveling as a passenger in one of the trucks, was thrown from the vehicle due to the strong impact and died at the scene.
The collision caused significant traffic delays in the area, and authorities urged drivers to avoid the area while the investigation is underway.
Authorities are expected to provide more details about the accident and the potential legal liabilities of those involved in the coming hours.
This incident adds to a troubling series of recent truck accidents on the highways of Miami-Dade.
On January 12, a tanker truck overturned and caused a spill that blocked several lanes on the I-95, creating traffic chaos for hours. Likewise, in September 2024, a serious accident forced the temporary closure of the same highway after a collision involving multiple vehicles and a heavy truck.
In a previous episode, in February 2024, a Coca-Cola truck overturned on I-95, leaving one injured and causing significant traffic delays. Also, in January 2025, a truck driven by a Cuban was destroyed after a crash on a road in the United States, highlighting the danger of these vehicles on highways.
