Starting from June 30th of this year, all travelers entering Cuba as tourists must have the mandatory electronic visa issued through the official portal evisacuba.cu, as announced by a directive from the Ministry of Tourism.

Gihana Galindo Enríquez, commercial director of the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR), stated in comments to the newspaper Granma that currently two modes coexist: the physical tourist card and the new electronic visa known as Evisa.

According to his explanation, the latter offers greater security and efficiency throughout the visa process, as well as being more convenient for travelers.

Galindo Enríquez specified that users must access the portal at least 72 hours before their arrival in Cuba.

Once the process is completed, a ten-character code is generated that the traveler must enter on the platform DViajeros, a digital entry form for the country.

This process generates a QR code that must be presented to immigration authorities upon arrival.

As a new feature, the management announced that the DViajeros form can be completed up to seven days before the trip.

From the Foreign Ministry, they ensure that with the implementation of the Evisa, "Cuba is moving towards a more modern consular system tailored to current needs."

Initially announced during the Tourism Fair (FITUR) in May of last year, the official presentation of the new electronic visa platform took place in August of the same year, although it was still not mandatory to choose that management route.

However, following the recent announcement, the electronic visa will be mandatory starting June 30, 2025, for travelers entering Cuba as tourists.
