A 27-year-old Cuban citizen was arrested on the outskirts of Milan accused of attempted murder, after being identified as the perpetrator of the stabbing of a 13-year-old Egyptian boy in broad daylight, an incident that has shocked the Lombard capital.

The incident occurred on Friday, May 16, just before 3:00 p.m., on the central Viale Vittorio Veneto.

According to local media La Milano and L’Unione Sarda, the attack occurred during a supposed drug transaction that went wrong, involving three teenagers in addition to the Cuban.

The capture of the Cuban, the main suspect

The Cuban, the alleged aggressor in the incident, was located hours later in Pozzuolo Martesana, a suburban area of Milan. He had a laceration on his right hand consistent with the attack.

The Carabineros recovered the weapon used in the attack, a knife with a blade measuring about 20 centimeters, which had been hidden in a field near the Aldo Merigli road. The man also handed over the clothes he was wearing at the time of the incident, La Milano reported.

Currently, the detainee is being held at San Vittore prison and faces charges of attempted murder. Authorities are continuing to investigate his possible involvement in drug trafficking in the area.

The drama in the hospital and the role of the rescuer

After the attack, a 19-year-old Italian of Egyptian descent, residing in Peschiera Borromeo, drove the minor in his vehicle, a gray Volkswagen Golf with signs of a collision and a flat tire, to the Fatebenefratelli hospital.

The boy, with a serious wound in his side that affected a lung, stumbled out of the car before collapsing unconscious in front of the entrance to the medical center. His dog also got out of the vehicle but collapsed a few meters away and later died at a veterinary clinic.

The young driver initially stated that he did not know the minor and that he had found him injured in the street, but shortly thereafter he changed his story.

The Carabineros found a telescopic baton, a knife sheath, a bloodied shoe, and a brass knuckles on the nearby asphalt, items that raised questions about the initial story.

Finally, the young man confessed that he knew the minor and that both, along with a third unidentified teenager, had gone to the location to buy drugs. During the negotiation with the alleged seller, an argument broke out that resulted in the stabbing of the child and the attack on the dog.

Open investigation and unanswered questions

The Italian police are now working to clarify all the details of the case. The CCTV cameras at Porta Venezia and Viale Vittorio Veneto are being analyzed to identify the third young man involved and accurately reconstruct the moment of the attack.

Meanwhile, the victim remains hospitalized in intensive care, but out of danger. The tragic incident has sparked a debate in Milan regarding the involvement of minors in criminal activities, access to drugs, and the increasing violence affecting young people and teenagers.

“The fact that a 13-year-old child was in a situation like this, armed only with the company of his dog, leaves the entire city in shock,” noted La Milano in its coverage.
