Cubans sing about the crisis in the country: "Maybe the grocer is in jail."

The WOW VIP group critiques the crisis in Cuba with humor, highlighting the shortages of food, power outages, and lack of gas. Through songs and parodies, they express the public's discontent with the economic situation.

In the midst of the food shortages in Cuba and the endless blackouts that affect the daily lives of Cubans, the group of young people known as WOW VIP has turned to humor to express their frustration with all the issues troubling the population.

In their Facebook profile, the WOW VIP, while dancing, dedicated a song to the Cuban crisis, set to reggaeton rhythm with the chorus "Ta' de pinga."

The song opens with a reference to the ration book, from which no products can be obtained anymore. "No longer is anything arriving at the store, maybe the shopkeeper is in jail", they argue.

The criticism continues regarding the lack of gas, "which hasn't arrived for years". The sales point, therefore, "is gathering dust."

The blackouts, according to the group, are increasing more and more. Even though they announce that they will last eight hours, the lack of electricity "keeps rising."

In Cuba, furthermore, "everyone is skinny" and "the hospitals have many bedbugs": "You go to the emergency room and you get bitten."

This video adds to a series of satirical pieces in which these young people critique the harsh reality of the country through humor.

In April, the WOW VIPs shared another amusing video in which they gathered for a "ceremony" in front of the Banco de Crédito y Comercio (BANDEC) to dedicate a prayer to the dollar in hopes of lowering its value.

The boys parodied the "Our Father," replacing the object of invocation with the Holy Dollar.

Thus, instead of the traditional "Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven," one hears "Holy dollar that is in the skies, hallowed be CADECA, come to us the euro, thy will be done both in BPA and BANDEC."

Previously, they had sung another prayer dedicated to the "Santos mandados", those basic basket products that used to arrive relatively regularly at the country’s stores through the ration book, and which have since disappeared.

Using a friendly tone, yet laden with irony, the young people plead for the return of the basic necessities and wish for "long life to Commerce," while they ask the Libreta: "Forgive us the quarrels in the butcher shop lines, just as we forgive the storekeeper who steals from us when he serves us."

The Cuban government has decided to eliminate subsidies for the basic basket as part of a plan to correct economic distortions and revive the economy. Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz stated that this measure is complex but necessary, given its impact on the country's budget and economy.

The removal of subsidies for the basic basket significantly affects Cuban families, as essential products like rice, sugar, eggs, and bread may become out of reach for many families due to high prices.
