Florida's Attorney General, James Uthmeier, stated that the crime rate in the state is the lowest in its history and pledged to maintain this trend with a "zero tolerance" policy against crime, while continuing to gain political support in his campaign for a full term.

According to the portal Florida Politics, Uthmeier received the support of 51 out of 67 sheriffs in Florida, who highlighted his commitment to law and order.

"Florida's Attorney General James Uthmeier has earned my support and that of dozens of sheriffs across the state for his tough approach against crime," stated Wayne Ivey, sheriff of Brevard County.

Ivey added that, under Uthmeier's leadership, "the protection of our citizens will be the top priority," reminding that crime "only grows to the level that a community is willing to tolerate, and in Florida, we have zero tolerance."

Uthmeier expressed gratitude for the support from the state law enforcement agencies and praised their work on the ground. "The Florida sheriffs are the best in the country."

They are the ones who implement in our communities the law and order policies that we promote at the state level.

"I am honored to have your support and I will work to keep Florida safe, strong, and free," he stated.

Appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis earlier this year following the departure of Ashley Moody, now a U.S. Senator, Uthmeier is the leading Republican candidate for the Attorney General election.

So far, only 16 sheriffs have not publicly announced their support for his candidacy.

His likely rival in the general elections will be former Democratic senator José Javier Rodríguez, although analysts believe that his base of support will be limited to a few county sheriffs in Democrat-led areas.

The support from the sheriffs comes shortly after the Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) confirmed its political and financial backing for Uthmeier's campaign, solidifying his position as the favorite within the Republican Party.

Uthmeier has reiterated that his administration will prioritize public safety and cooperation with local forces to maintain the low crime rate in Florida, a state that, according to official figures, currently holds the lowest crime rate in its recent history.

James Uthmeier's leadership of the Florida Attorney General's Office has been characterized by strong actions aligned with a "zero tolerance" policy.

Among his recent decisions, he emphasized pressing to activate the state law against organizations accused of human trafficking, appealing to legal authority to dismantle structures that, he said, "endanger the safety of our communities."

In another display of its hardline stance, it warned that operations against criminal networks threatening the stability of the state will continue, stating that the Prosecutor's Office "will not let its guard down."

This position has been strengthened by public statements following specific cases, such as when he made categorical comments following the arrest of a kidnapping suspect, accusing certain groups of "undermining the legal order with complete impunity."

His name has also been linked to controversial measures, such as the support for the recent law that authorizes citizens to carry firearms in public spaces without the need for permits.

Uthmeier defended the legislation as a way to strengthen self-defense against criminal threats, in line with the more conservative principles of the Republican Party.

Furthermore, he has requested to open an investigation against former Senator Ashley Moody for potential ethical violations, claiming that the use of insider information during her campaign could constitute a serious offense.

These actions reinforce Uthmeier's profile as a prosecutor who combines legal rigor with a political strategy aimed at solidifying his leadership among conservative voters in Florida.
