Carlos Laferte, owner of the café Calvo y 28, was murdered this Monday in Cárdenas, Matanzas.
The 61-year-old man was stabbed multiple times by a young man of just 18 years old, reported on Facebook by the user Christian Arbolaez.
“Carlos was not just the owner of a café. He was the joyful voice of the neighborhood, a confident greeting, a noble man of good values who knew how to listen and advise. In 29, everyone says the same: a real man has left us,” Arbolaez commented.
"Although Carlos knew self-defense, he could not protect himself from the attack," she said.
The victim was, according to Arbolaez's account, a person about whom no one spoke ill, and whose death leaves a wound in the community that will be hard to heal.
"The entire neighborhood is in mourning. His neighbors, his friends, his family… everyone is grieving for him. They say that people like him cannot be replaced, because they leave a mark. Today, not just a man died. A symbol of community, kindness, and respect has passed away,” he said.
The death, details of which have not been disclosed, was confirmed by several users in the comments.
"I have known Carlos for over 38 years, a great man of many values. I am so sorry; my sincerest condolences to his brothers and son. May God grant him a beautiful place in heaven and give him eternal light. Rest in peace, great friend. I will remember you forever," said a user.
